I tried to do a search, couldn't find a thread about us Danes (Bartenders, feel free to delete or move this post if I am wrong).

I'll go first.. my name is Mai and I am from Greve, Denmark, but I have lived in Malmö (Sweden) for almost two years now. From what I have read, we should be quite a few Danes here!!

Hello fellow Danish Loungers!!

HI!

Hammelby reporting in. (I am even half Swede).
Working freelance in copenhagen. I am seriously happy to
find more vintage scandinavians. :eusa_clap I have almost gotten used
the loneliness and peoples stares/giggles. Its weird, but its a small country
fenomena i guess: If they see one, they frown and whisper. Seeing two, its sudenly COOL!

Pleased to know you both Dahrling and Niels, hope to meet you
sometime in the fall 08? Im off to L.A. in 8 days and to work
and hang out/ dance/ drive cars with all the vintage cats there.

I live in Copenhagen as well and very much look forward to meeting the rest of you on the 28th ;) It's great to see that there are more of 'us' in this little country than I ever hoped to expect.

I'm obviously Danish. I'm not called Lillemor for nothing!lol My dad's American but I don't usually identify myself as ½ American. I have nothing against the U.S. or Americans in general but it just doesn't feel like part of my identity though at times I surprise myself by how American my outlook or historical knowledge and understanding is.

When I talk to my parents in-law who were young in Denmark in the 50s, what they remember is very different from what my family in the U.S. have told me and which has shaped my picture of that time.

I'm kinda surprised at how many Danes that seem to be active on these boards because generally I see my fellow countrymen (and women) as being very homogeous and just following the masses, so if retro is in, they follow it in the way it's mass produced and for as long as it's trendy. Sure there are many Danes with greater historical knowledge than me, I can't put my finger on what it is that makes me feel like a freak at times.

I felt that way too when I leaned towards the more goth facet of me (we all have different facets to our identity) even though there is a goth subculture in Denmark. I don't know why I feel so displaced at times.

I'm not even a fully converted vintage gal and just small stuff like my 50s costume jewelry or my lipstick attract the stranges stares.

Fx. I love snooping around the industrial museum in Horsens which is close to where I live and we do so at least a couple of times a year for a few hours each time with the boys and no one locally can understand why we'd want to go back to that dusty place if we'd seen it once. I admit, it could be greater but I'm pleased with the fact that we have such a museum locally.

I see you live in Horsens Lillemor. One of my friends has a girlfriend who lives there, and he says it's a lovely city. My boyfriend and I will also be going to the medieval fair at the end of August, so we will have a chance to see it ourselves :)

I don't actually live in Horsens but seeing as most people have never heard of Østbirk, I usually don't bother to mention my adopted hometownlol I'm from Gilleleje:) ...Actually, way back when, I was from Amager but I still consider Gilleleje my hometown and now Østbirk as well.

Well...
...my Wife is Danish(from Odense) and my Daughter is Danish(actually born at Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm, completely by accident and 14 weeks early).

I'm a NZ'er, we met in London, about 10 years ago, then moved to Århus, where she studied medicine and I loafed around.
We just moved to Stockholm in March, after 2 years in KBH (Saxogade/Istedgade, then Søndrefasanvej, ved Søndermarken og Zoo'en)and 6 years in Århus.

Now, I guess I'll have to half-learn Swedish too.

So, if I was actually able to come to the get-together, on Pile allee, it would have only been a short walk down the hill and a drunken climb home.

Oh... I have ubegrænset ophold i Danmark- do I qualify?

Compared to population we - as a country - might be the biggest national group in the Lounge.

Either we are soooo coooool in Denmark - or some of us just have too much time to spend.;)

Best Speedster,
My second trip went very well, although it was alot of ups and downs
in the hunt for jobs in hollywood. The comic in Politiken ended for good last year, but I wrote about it on the blog.

http://blog.politiken.dk/hollywood/

Instead, we were actually filming the documentary "Flugten til Hollywood", produced by Nimbus film. In about a years time it will done, be out in festivals, maby even on TV. :p

Vintagewise, california was good (especially the clothes and the dances!). I spent time with Wildroot, Maxwelle Demille and some of the other californian loungers. They would probably be popping up in the film as well (well, Wildroot will.. as the Doorman @ cicada club).

Many wishes of future good times to all Danes and Swedes!
Hope to see you sooon.
