Hi all. I ordered a semi-custom S-B with my sleeve and body length measurements. My chest is an actual 38” (6’ tall) and they sent me a jacket tagged size 38 but it still seems very roomy. I emailed them 7 days ago but have not received a reply to that or any of the (polite) follow-ups I sent. I think maybe they sent me a size 40 by mistake. What do you think?

22" bottom hem on a size 38 is madness, no wonder it looks like a tent!
I am a size 42 chest and 33 waist and would aim for 22.5-23.5" chest and 19.5-20.5" bottom hem measured like you did.

Seriously though, that Pit to pit is better suited for a size 40, or even a trim 42 if it were a Japanese jacket. Also the lack of any taper at all from the chest down through the waist is pretty lame in my opinion. You are a slim athletic guy and your jacket should accent that fact, the one you have looks like a sack of potatoes.

Bottom hem waaay too wide at 22, as Carlos says. With your body build it should be 19.5 - 20. What is your waist circumference just below the navel?

Regardless, for size 38 the bottom hem width is totally wrong.

I did suggest that a well-fitting jacket I own is 19” at the opening. I wear a size 32 in most brands of jeans/trousers.

Unfortunately it's not going to work out as you had hoped. It's too square/boxy whatever they call it. Hope you get a remake/refund on it.

Stop wearing it immediately. That needs to go back to SB for a remake or a refund.

That's not a size too big, that's just terribly cut pattern AND probably a size too large. No taper from chest to bottom is just straight up troll. Any jacket should have atleast one or more regularily two inches drop from ptp to waist measurement, so 20" waist on this 22" ptp. What you need is probably a 21" chest and a 19" waist. If SB ignores you, write a letter, throw both letter and jacket in a box and return at once. This needs a refund. After you get that, buy a Schott or a Vanson.

The side straps should be there to fine tune the taper, not create it.
You can't use straps to make up for 2" of exces leather, it just doesn't work that way.
