Saddest thing is that... It's otherwise a REALLY nice jacket. Looks really good even tho it doesn't fit the OP at all, but it's just a very nice jacket.
This is the best advice. Letter and Leather in a box !! Return at once !! One week went by already waiting for them to answer. Get it out of the house so you don't have to keep looking at it and making yourself sick...........That's not a size too big, that's just terribly cut pattern AND probably a size too large. No taper from chest to bottom is just straight up troll. Any jacket should have atleast one or more regularily two inches drop from ptp to waist measurement, so 20" waist on this 22" ptp. What you need is probably a 21" chest and a 19" waist. If SB ignores you, write a letter, throw both letter and jacket in a box and return at once. This needs a refund. After you get that, buy a Schott or a Vanson.
Absolutely, and I hope that you are still within the range of time where you can dispute the charge with your credit card company. This is the best advice. Letter and Leather in a box !! If you inquire they will. I’ve gotten numbers for a particular size/style. They won’t post them and that’s something I think all makers should do as it would alleviate so many sizing snafus. One thing I have noticed about SB of late, everything got bigger. My first few felt like they were sized down (44” fits like a 42”) but the last 44” I had felt like a 48”.It’s so annoying when these makers don’t disclose stock size measurements. Why wouldn’t they? How do they cut patterns? In this respect, Aero is also the same. They won’t say.
Trust me I did when I put in my custom order and the response I got at the time was that they didn’t have any jacket of the same style/size in stock to measure.
They don't. They only need to check their patterns to know the base measurements.Exactly why would they need a jacket in stock to provide measurements?!
They don't. They only need to check their patterns to know the base measurements.
When I asked Eastman about a particular model, they simply sent me their size chart: View attachment 280304
When I was discussing sizing with Greg (Field Leathers), he told me his halfbelt pattern size 42 had a ptp of 22.5'. I'm pretty certain he didn't need to measure up a stock jacket in order to be able to tell me that.
There's only one reason I can think of why they wouldn't want to tell you. By giving exact measurements, a customer is able to complain afterwards when the jacket he received turned out to be off in one way or the other.
Maybe they're afraid other companies will steal 'their' patternsThere could be other reasons.
