Cricket sweaters

Whoops, I don't think we did very well this time in the Ashes matches this time around!

I Must admit I am not than keen on cricket, I prefer Rugby.
.

I wasn't all that interested in Cricket at school but liked wearing the jumpers. I played it once or twice for the House. Rugby I played throughout my time at school for House and sometimes school teams.

Today it's raining so heavily that a Cricket game would definitely be rained off. That wasn't always the case with Rugger games: it had to be a complete washout for them to be cancelled. When Cricket was rained off we had free time. When Rugby games or practice was cancelled we had to go to the gym do PE-style workouts.

The cooler weather over the past few days made me get out my cricket sweaters to wear this weekend, nice to get them back on again.

Nice pictures, they look quite lightweight so perhaps could be used for either cricket or tennis.

It’s a while since I wore a Cricket sweater because I have so many Woolly Pullies and Guernseys - and Norwegian sweaters. I must wear a Cricket sweater again soon. Where does your new one come from?

I bought the new one on ebay, it was brand new, made by Kent & Curwen, (I already have another of theirs), It is brand new and was donated to a cricket club in Derbyshire to raise funds for the club.

That’s a very good cause, I am sure. I have worn Kent & Curwen cricket sweaters in my time and should check out their website. I wasn’t a great Cricketer as a schoolboy: I played from time to time for the House but was never brilliant at it or all that interested really. However I enjoyed wearing the sweaters! Cricket was of course played in the summer term. As it wasn’t my sport of choice that term used to be quite relaxed for me, unlike the other two terms which were Rugger-dominated.

I am not sure if Kent and Curwen still exist, they did have a shop in Piccadilly but it has not been there for ages. I bought another couple of Cricket Sweaters from a firm called Smart Turnout, but I don't they exist now either.

Kent and Curwen seem to exist online but in reduced circumstances. Smart Turnout I have used for many years for Cricket sweaters but they too are closed. However they seem to be about to relaunch in some form.

Yes, that's what I thought about both of those firms, Hope ST can return again, their sweaters are wonderful. No I don't play Cricket, I just like the Sweaters.

I also hope ST can return soon. I wasn’t much good at Cricket and haven’t played it since school apart from twice (I think) at university when I stood in for another chap. However I also like wearing the sweaters.

Here are a couple of my cricket sweaters, the one with the Red, Gold and Black stripes are from a Gloucester Club and made/knitted by Smart Turnout, the other one with the Blue & Green Stripes is the recent purchase from the Derbyshire Club Charity and knitted by Kent and Curwen. Hope they come out ok.

Very nice. I like the tie and the combat trousers as well; I have the latter, of course (sometimes paired with an Army, Navy or Black Woolly Pully), and I have some colourful ties as well for more formal gatherings.
