Now all Bob and Dale need are some skull toe caps and they’re ready for the Breaking Bad remake.
On my Christmas list now ... thanks Greg!

Black Jack makes a good boot; I’ve owned two pair over the years and they’re right up there with Lucchese Classics and they offer a lot of hide choices.

Hello gents, do these markings inside a pair of Rios for RRL mean anything to anyone? Any help is appreciated!
These were listed as a size 11-1/2, but the auction house did not respond with a width or measurements so I took a chance at $20 and … lost. They are a ‘B’ width with a narrow instep. Into the trade pile…

The joys of internet auctions. Sorry about the bad luck.
Looking at some boots with hand tooled uppers that are very stiff and dried out. Anyone have any luck "re-hydrating" something like this? What did you do?
thanks,
Rob

Very late to comment but wow those boots are fantastic! These made it in Friday and I’ve been working on them a bit since then. Some of you might remember when I posted them as “incoming” the heel counter was black like the vamp. Friday I scrubbed them inside and out as I usually do and the surface of the heel counter started getting soft and a bit gummy and the black started peeling off so I switched to a nylon scrub pad and got most of the black off and realized the heel counter was rawhide. I think the foot may have been dyed as well as I saw brown undertones when I cleaned them. I decided to let them dry overnight and researched cleaning rawhide. Yesterday I scrubbed them with a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. After that, I moistened them a number of times with the peroxide, letting them dry in direct sun several times. They cleaned up well but for the stitching and I’m afraid that if I continued to scrub it may break the stitching down. Re dyed the foot and polished them up today.
I figure the age to be late 70’s to 90’s. I really don’t know much about dating Justin’s. I bought my first and only pair in 1976. Those were great boots but after that it was usually TL’s or Nocona’s for OTR boots. The first pic is of where I finished yesterday. Some knucklehead dyed the side seam too. Didn’t clean up well.
10 1/2” tops, 3” heels.

Hey Bama,
Do you have current contact info for Spider? The mailing address and phone on his website are both defunct and was wondering if anyone had any info.....
Dave
I reached out to Jennifer and waiting to see what she says. ThanksNO, sir I do not. Mark Fletcher, who ran the Custom Cowboy Boots and Shoes Forum would be my best guess. Think he runs a FB cowboy boot collecting page. Also, maybe reach out to Jennifer June @ dimlights.com. She used to keep an updated list of current makers.
