Thanks to the great wealth of info here in the Lounge .....the Lucchese 2000's are the lowest quality of their offerings. I have not held a pair so cannot comment but others here have stated that if they were to buy a Lucchese it would have to be a Classic or nothing at all.

And are all Tony Lama "El Rey's" quality boots or does it depend on when they were made?

The 2000's were a step below the 1883's and only lasted awhile.

Tony Lama el Reys "The King" were a special run in the 80's and at the time were the highest quality, most expensive boot they offered. The quality of the boots equal anything that was being offered by Lucchese or the Big Three at the time. Why? What size do you wear?

When you said "Lucchese or the Big Three" (above) it sounds like Lucchese is in a class by itself. Are the Big Three Lama, Justin and Nocona?

I suspect they were all better boots in the past and mass produced now?

The big three are the ones you mentioned and all "mass" produced boots but to a much greater degree of quality than what we see today. The big three are all owned by Berkshire-Hathaway. When Warren Buffett wanted Acme Brick, owned by Justin Boots, the only way they would sell is for the boots mfg. to go as well.

Thanks Bob, most of my boots are pretty plain but my wife bought my a couple of Tyler Beard’s books for Christmas. I think my style may be getting a little more “colorful.” These will be getting some wear.

@dh66, Cuz, I've looked all over for better images of that boot sign. The info I've found indicates this was around Amarillo in 1946 and the sign is 9' tall and outlined in neon.
