Lama Bullhides.

More specifically shrunken bull shoulder. Probably TL stamp instead of label. I have a gray pair (different stitch pattern) of shrunken bull shoulder from ~1980-1982.

Some Gallapava boots,

Always heard Gallapavas stink real bad if they get wet. Couldn't stink as bad as that Mexican leather tanned in animal urine though!

Can't imagine them smelling that bad and can't imagine they're were a lot of them made.not many show up in the secondary market and when they do it's usually a NOS pair. Don't think they were very durable .

When I've tanned turkey skin it wasn't very durable either ... or maybe I browned it.

Ok....i can’t stand it!!!!
The Mailgirl just left and i couldn’t open the Stingrays fast enough!! Damn they’re friggin gorgeous!!
Then came the Bullhides!! Heart be still!!
As you can see i got em both on!! I know what i’m doin today!! Ha
These are just quick pics cause i just wanted some of you all to join in my fun!
Ya know...i have gotten a couple nice hats before and a couple really really nice ones too. But NEVER have i been this excited!!

Really like the looks of those boots. I'm usually not too big on the rays but they kept the pearl to a minimum and the color is great. Rays are notorious for the break-in period. Let us know how they're wearing. The TL's are unique. The bulls look to be sanded giving kind of a roughout look, at least the pics do to me. Don't blame you for being excited.

Mine were sanded giving them a bit of a suede feel back when they were new, which quickly wore off. Mine are gray with black tops & are often mistaken to be elephant by "experts".

Greetings All:
Got some boots to post so I’ll start with the Rios. I went out on a limb with the B width but it worked out fine. The seller’s pics showed kinda a brighter blue but they are pretty black with a blue tint which i’m happy with. No skunk stripe, thank you. I do love the stitch work and pattern. They look to be fairly bullet proof but are suprisingly comfortable. I don’t know if Rios of Mercedes is a good boot but it will be interesting to see how they age. They seem like well made boots.

Well...Willow let me escape with my life today! I get 7 more hrs. tomorrow so i’m postin a Pachyderm stampede while i can. Man that little girl likes her some boots and hats. No idea where she gets that. Lol

Noconos, broke in but not down. Suprised how comfy they were all things considered.
I could not resist the grain on these ones.

I took a chance with a first time ebay seller on these Lama Bullhides. My offer was $50 less than the bin when accepted, so a darn good deal i think. The seller claimed he was told this was bull scrotum hide. Sounds more like BS to me!! Lol
I think he knows less than me bout boots!! Ha
Curious about the age of these and the Elephants i posted. Ideas??

Love those TL's, Bowen as well as the elephants. Is there a cloth label in the shaft of the TL's. They appear to be a 70's to 80's boot, still US made. They are not scrotum. It's shrunken shoulder, the heaviest most wrinkled part of a bovine hide. Sometimes mistaken for elephant. Yours appeared to be sanded, giving a more smooth, suede like finish. Lots of grain there.

The label in your Noconas puts them in the 70's-early 80's.
