It's a gamble. If the suspenders have been stored in a dry, hot place, then the elastic will be brittle and fragile. Before bidding on vintage suspenders or sock garters, I always ask the seller where they were found/stored. If the answer is Arizona, New Mexico, or any desert area, I pass.

True, but sometimes that's an advantage. They can be easier to clean/polish if they're leather. Still, I'm with you: buck suede is nicest.

Great 1940s suit, very reasonable price.


Several of the jacket's righthand buttons have to be moved further right to their original places, making it about a 38 R.

Maybe that's why in the cases of suits like this, it's better to find them stuffed in a trash bag at an estate sale than on eBay.
