Yes. And I can't tell you how amazed I was when I found out that the 50's book fetched more money, but that's probably because people consider the 50's more applicable...

Saw this. I think it's from the later '40s or the '50s. Notice the sheen of the fabric, and the pilling? Those say "DuPont" nylon or dacron blend to me. (Maybe rayon?) Nylon tends to pill; cotton, linen, or Palm Beach cloth do not.

Nope. It was made by a specific manufacturer of American workwear that is highly sought-after by Japanese collectors nowadays. IMO, that's why it sold for such a high price.

Yours has many elements of the '60s-revival suits and sportcoats being sold everywhere these days ... but I think that this suit really is from the '60s. Then again, it could a modern suit by a tailor whose signature style (like Jack Taylor's, in Beverly Hills) has hardly evolved since the '60s.

Yes to all counts. (Though slash pockets actually date back to the 19th century, and went out of fashion in the early 1900s -- except on western wear).
