Well, as the weather has been (intermittently) nicer 'round these parts (I'm far too lazy to dress pretty in the winter...), my skirts and dresses have come out to play recently. And all of a sudden, my co-workers have been telling me how beautiful I look! Now mind you, it's all been pretty subtle, nothing I would consider "haute vintage" or really all that vintage at all... mostly just simple skirts or dresses with a modern blazer, nude fishnets, and china flats (my arthritis has been way too mad at me lately for me to wear anything with a heel) - little to no makeup, and my hair in my usual patented "unruly ferret perched on my head" bun. I wonder what they'll think when I start wearing the REALLY ostentatious pieces...
The other day, I was wearing such an outfit and a co-worker said "what are you all dressed up for?" Now, it's important to note that my place of employment has recently suffered a rash of well-intentioned but poorly-thought-out "Theme Days," so it would be easy for someone to see me and think they missed a memo...
(Though our mob-themed day for the big push for the last season of The Sopranos WAS admittedly a lot of fun. It was a blast to see management-types outside smoking cigars on their lunch breaks and running meetings as though they were a mob family, and our HBO rep in the break room dealing blackjack...)
