China-made G-1 jacket

I'm just curious about the color of the G-1 jacket.
According to the description, it is a Vietnam-war era veg-tanned 7823-D(WP) Repo. with Talon Zip. I just do a little research on google, the color of original 7823D should be much darker than this one.
The price surely a budgeted one. (about USD 292)

The photos look OK. There have been many variations of the G-1 over the decades,( USN actually issued naugahyde versions in the early 1970's) so if you are not a stickler and find something you really like, and it fits well physically and within your budget, go for it.

You are right, a Viet Nam era G-1 should be a darker brown, but personally I would be more disturbed by the USN stecil on the back of the collar, a feature long gone by the VN War. Kevin

Looks to me like the seller is using Toys McCoy's pics for the jacket, but doing some further research on the 'Eastman' Star shows a 'pirate' pocket tag (how appropriate huh?), and 'Made of Genuine Horse Hide Front Quart'... If it is indeed like the pics, and of good construction, the jacket would be one helluva buy for the price... It would hands-down be the best I've seen come out of China. EDIT: Hell, they even have the reinforcement stitching on the upper pocket corners correct for a Star Sportswear..

EDIT: The size 44 measurements don't look bad either:

Chest: Around 46.6"
Sleeves: Close to 26"
Shoulders: Close to 19"
Back Length: around 26"

EDIT: It appears that 'Pirates' is the name of the company.. LOL! I found this info on another site: "Pirates replica World War II VEGETABLE TANNED Horse Leather A-2 Air Force Flight Jacket Eastman 28557"

Yup, they are coping the Mccoy and Eastman A-2 jacket. As i know, there are two companies in Chin have a fair repo to the A-2, one is the "Pirates" shown above; another is the "Global".

Apparently the name Pirates they took is not in vain ... This is the banter? :)
Just for what they write that this is Eastman :)

I do not know Chinese language, but my translator has translated this as a replica of the WW2 А-2 jacket Eastman. Anyone can understand how anyone likes it. But there it is not written that it is a replica of the A-2 Star Sportswear for example, although it is on the label.
I think that the mention of Eastman makes them an advertisement :)

The jacket looks to be a direct copy of the Eastman Star pattern.. Even the top reinforcement stitching on the pocket corners is correctly done.. ;) Looks VERY damn accurate to me.. The Toy's McCoy Rough Wear 1401-P jackets offered there look to be very accurate repros as well.

That G-1 is a mess as far as the specs go. But if they lost the punched windflap and added a 55J14 label, it would be pretty legit. They need some guidance with the specs. They are copying things but obviously have no insight into the history of these jackets. The G-1 appears to have issues with the gusseted armpit design and the sleeves don't appear to be inset. I have a RE B series that is nearly that light in color so the color is not to far off the range of browns that they used. However, my RE is the lightest color of G-1 I have ever seen.

Regards,
Jay

The color likely to be the Korean war era. How about the MIL-J-7823 as below?

Not the same color. Real MIL-J-7823 (AER) darker then Chinese.
Although everything can be distorted by the color reproduction of the photo and the calibration of the monitor. My G-1 of this specification has different darker color not same as on the Chinese web.

It says same model as Eastman xxxxx. Also a promotional tricks on the internet- keyword search, meta tag etc.

Apologies, I posted this in another thread, but it actually belongs here:

If I didn't have a queue of jackets already, I'd try one of those Chinese 'Eastman' 28557 A-2s... Gary is probably having a fit.
They look pretty good, although as B-man said, until one has it in hand, one never knows what you will actually get.

Did anyone see the Risk Rider Rough Wear 23380 ;) ;) ;) Jeepers, this had me in stitches for a bit!
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?sp...XBwgSY&id=523378203325&ns=1&abbucket=4#detail
And the worst is, it actually looks pretty good, AND... every garment is 'guaranteed'.
The Risk Rider Rough Wear 23380 must be top-tier, being twice the price of the Eastman 28557 ;) !
I have to get one of these ;) I think the Risk Rider in seal looks pretty slick...

Anyway, good looking jackets for the price, will keep my eye on these.

Risk rider is the high end repo amongst the Chinese Repo. At the same price range of risk rider A-2, i prefer flightjacket.com or Cockpit A-2.
Anyway, i would say Risk Rider is the best repo amongst those made in China Repo.

The 'Risk Rider' looks to be a totally bad-ass Veg-tanned HH A-2 LOADED with high-end features for a STEAL of a price from what I see...

Hey I come from China and I can responsibly tell you this is XXXX stuff. Don't buy it.
One good brand from China that worth buying is called risk rider. It uses shinki horsehide and the craftsmanship is really good. Probably the most cost-effective stuff you can find on earth. Its shape and design isn't as good as the counterpart from freewheelers (its design is matchless with the curvature in the front), but the craftsmanship is similar and also the same material.

Yes risk rider is good stuff. Shinki horsehide, good craftsmanship. It came to my surprise that people here found it. I just recommended it to the guy who made this post.
