I´m working on the new caps an the first one is ready... the hickory striped denim newsboy... great shape...love it! First pictures tomorrow or thursday.

Because of the wabash i was thinking about something: Rising Sun & Co in LA are doing great denim/ workwear stuff and I rememer reading something that they did a sale on some of their denim fabrics last year... maybe it´s possible to get some fabric from them ....?

Let me know if you need a hand on getting that fabric in case they don't ship to you.

Hickory stripe, herringbone chambray, polka dotted denim (even with stars as dots) is not aproblem to get... but wabash?
What does the word wabash means/ stands for? I´ve tried to get a translation for it but wasn´t able.

I wonder how flat caps will look like with those patterns. Has anybody seen some?

Problem is that walbash is and indigo and bleach made fabric made with a wheel pattern. Spoonflower uses a printed process. While one could make a fabric similar it would not look the same.

There is this souce for the Stifel Dot, but not the stripe....

Hepville, Do you think the german/austrian "Blaudruck" is the same process as stifel? I got this idea when I saw an article in a random magazine at the doctors waiting room. It was about a guy still dyeing his fabrics like it was done back in the day but for german "trachten" and tablecloths. But it' s indigo!

Flat Foot: I know Blaudruck. It was common here in northern Germany and I also know it from Hungary... I´ve seen how it is made.
In Blaudruck (simply said) the pattern is a result of stamping the undyed fabric and give it some soaks in indigo... the pattern is the undyed part.
As I know wabash/ stifel fabrics are indigo dyed and the pattern is applied on the stuff... so it´s not the same process.

I´ve found some polka dotted denim made here in Europe... will get it in a few days.
I also have my hands on a very small ammount of vintage selvedge chambray... if I can get it it may be enough for 4 or 5 caps.

Bella, Stifel is done the same way it is a resist method. Pattern first then dye. The Walbash has the polka dots in a pin stripe pattern.
Blaudruck looks a lot like Stifel and I am sure with a name like Stifel the owner had seen Blaudruck patterns.

It is known in europe since 300 years or so. I imagine the people would bring it to america too. I think it is just the same. Wouldn't it add a nice local touch to the caps when the fabric is made in germany? :-D
Maybe you could do something even the japanese don't have

Okay...so we speak from Blaudruck and Stifel Fabrics on the same level... Blaudruck Fabric is not that hard to get... so it´s more about the pattern and the price... this stuff is pricey

The polka dotted fabric arived it´s made with the Stifel/ Blaudruck method. It´s a bit to lightweight for my taste so it has to be interfaced.
Blaudruck: With a bit more time I will make some research next week to see if theres something similar to the dotted stripes pattern or so.

Here is a fabric I saw in an outlet store. Not enough for a suit but maybe for caps? It's greener than in the picture so I hesistated to buy it. What is the weave called? It's neither herringbone nor diamond weave?

My wife just made one for me out of brown corduroy. She has instructed me to check the thrift stores for horrible old tweed jackets so that she can use the fabric to make more caps.

I found a royal blue wool blanket at a thrift store. She is going to make my son a coat. Probably modeled after my WW2 peacoat.

Is that 100% cotton?

Their FAQ says that almost all of their fabric is 100% cotton.
