There's no rule. Even if there had been a rule in the past, it wouldn't matter nowadays. Wear it how you like.
Personally, for fedoras I prefer the classic down in front, up in back.

Yep, in my case I allow the hat to tell me what it wants to do! It somehow just knows what is best.Welcome again to the lounge hatsandcanes.
Lots depends on the hat. Some hats just look right up all around, some down all around, some flat as a pancake. I have them all ways even up in the front and down in the back.
The rule for how to wear them is....wear “that” hat the way “you” like “that” hat.
Everybody’s different so be different and make it yours.

I'm like you. I wear both up and down, but I prefer brim up.Depends on the hat, but I find I'm brim up the majority of the time.
I took a rather shy friend of mine to a men's meeting and the leader opened up with the stock...."There is no such thing as a stupid question...."...My friend screwed up the nerve to ask a question. The leader paused, looked at my friend and said..."okay, that one was stupid." There was an interminable pregnant pause and then the circle burst into loud guffaws. It was a great ice breaker at my friend's expense. So don't worry I certainly have asked my share of the stupid ones, ask away!!!!Thanks so much for all the good advice! This board is awesome and consists of many helpful people. I am so glad to be a member and hope I don't ask too many stupid questions!!
Then you have the gentleman on the right that looks to have run into a wall...
Enuff said!
I'm in the "They're your hats, wear them however you like" camp. I personally prefer the front of the brim snapped down on most of my hats, but I do have one narrow/stingy brimmed hat that I like to wear brim up like a Pork Pie. My wife has informed me in no uncertain terms that she doesn't like "that look" so if I wear that hat when I'm with her I snap the brim down. Otherwise, life's too short to waste time being concerned about what other people think about my/your personal sense of style. As I look at the many pictures on this site, I have noticed the majority of people wear their brim snapped down. I have some I wear snapped down but prefer the look of my brim snapped up. I would like to hear peoples take on this. I have watched a lot of movies with Fedora wearer's in it and have seen them both ways. Is their an un-written rule about the correct way to wear a fedora or is it personal preference? Thanks for any thoughts!
PS: I am referring to the front brim!
I've noticed this on the "Pork Pie" hat I mentioned above. It's crown is considerably lower and more tapered than the crowns on any of my other hats so with the brim up in front it tends to fit my head like it was molded to it. But snap the brim down in front and suddenly it's a bit loose. Being made from a single piece of felt that's really stiff, and with it's narrow/stingy brim deeply flanged, it made sense to me that the brim shape and position (i.e. up or down) would affect the crown, but it was still a bit of a surprise the first time I noticed it....Though this doesn't relate to look, I find also that a hat that is slightly tight with brim up can feel a tiny bit looser with the front down. Sometimes that factors into my choice for a given day...
