Hello, I would like to know if anyone knows good brands that manufacture good modern bowler hats! I obviously know Christys, Lock & Co, Stetson, Magill and not much else, but I would like to know more!

Does Mike have the tools to do a real D’Orsay curled brim? I’d like a topper in beaver. I’m alright if the hat doesn’t have a reverse taper top, but it would have to have a D’Osay brim. I think I remember reading that @belfastboy had acquired the tooling....
No it wasn't me but I think I recall seeing one of Mike's creation on his FB page with the D'Orsay curl.

Hmmm...any chance one of your first blocks was a 61.5 long oval puzzle block for a topper! :)
They are in high demand.

I thought I read that someone here acquired a D’Orsay curling tool that Mike was going to have CAD drawing made to duplicate It. If it wasn’t you I wonder who it was....

Thanks to all for the great references! now that i have more knowledge about the bowlers i was thinking about the "famous" hat commissioned by Sir Winston Churchill known as cambridge hat... is that i only saw him on the lock & co website... it seems that nobody else manufactures this... does anyone know a good manufacturer?

I believe that style is a Lock original.

This is a company I came across from Altenburg, Germany. I have no idea about the quality but they have a background in Stiff Felts and Top Hats (including collapsible).

If you have Facebook. The beginning and end shows some of the production. They have many old forms and tools. At about 1:00 mark you can see some of the product.

I believe Matt (Mean Eyed Matt) lives nearby so maybe he can check them out.

Pics from Mike. It might not be D'Orsay the way they used to do it, but it looks pretty good to me! More pics in a few days.
