Aero leathers do not work with full aniline shinki leather. I am wanting a bootleger style jacket but made in shinki leather. I know I have seen one before made by another jacket maker. Can any of you list other makers that make a bootleger style jacket and offer shinki leathers too?

Im not familiar with Helix. Good looking jacket
They are held in high regard for their quality-price-ratio. I dont own one, but people talk about them very positively around here. If the linked jacket above is available in your size and you still want to commit to that particular style, it is a good option.

Does Lewis leathers have do a Bootlegger version ?

Their men's jackets are all here - https://www.lewisleathers.com/collections/mens-jackets

Nothing quite like the Bootlegger. With the exception of the Universal Racer, all the Lewis brand range are c.1956-1979 designs; the Bootlegger (although patterned on the slightly more relaxed 50s Aero Halfbelt) is styled after sporty aero / moto jackets of the 30s. I recollect Aero did a handful of sample jackets with Shinki a decade plus ago, but the tannery couldn't guarantee to supply hides in the quantities Aero wanted to use, so it was never added to their range. I'm sure there are alternative out there in a similar style (other than just a knock-off of the Aero) from brands that use Shinki, though, if you're particularly keen to have one of their hides.

Shinki isn’t unicorn hide.

Mn. I've handled it and it was certainly very nice, but nothing that would make me chase it over any other hide I've enjoyed in my jackets. I say I've handled "it", of course I've handled some Shinki leathers. There's no, one Shinki hide, Shinki being an overall brand like Horween or any other tannery.

I have a jacket in full aniline shinki horse, and I love how this leather feels and looks. My favorite jacket style Iver ever owned is the bootlegger or the hoochhouler. I really want one of these styles in the shinki. I know ive see one of the other makers create a jacket very close to the bootleger . I just cant remember who

Looking for Shinki qua Shinki is almost always a sign that you don't know what you're looking for.
Could be right. Im sure there are better leathers. Ive had jackets made of CXLHH, Badalassi, and Vicenza. I have a field leathers made of brown full aniline shinki horse. I like the way the shinki leather draps, feels and looks compared to the others

It's not just a matter of better and worse leathers. It's that Shinki itself makes everything from industrial grade to the leathers you're thinking of, and many others in between that fill different niches.

Can Fields make you a jacket in the style you want with the Shinki that you like? Or is he not doing custom jackets right now?

He seems to have gotten out of the custom jacket. The shinki leather jacket I have is from him if that helps anyone determine what kind of shinki leather I have. I have seen a older bootlegger style he did and loved it but he isn't doing that pattern as part of his lineup
