I'll stay off-topic for one more post and say that I agree with buler (although I never really disagreed), and that I plan on refraining from posting any live auctions, out of respect for my fellow Loungers. It's the right thing to do.

Me too, Mr. E. Now back to boaters:

The boys at Harrow School still wear the very low-crowned, wide-brimmed boaters...and always at a rakish angle. Ah tradition!

The low-crowned kind reminds me of Buster Keaton's porkpie. Does anyone know where the Harrow boys get theirs, and if they're available in men's sizes?

Looking at the weave, it looks like Olney's.

M. E. G. & Cie. Straw

M. E. G. & Cie. Straw, measures ~ 58cm. It is boater like but with less rigid Milan like straw. My guess is 1930s or older although I couldn't find anything on the company.

Very nice. FYI, this is very much like the boater worn by Johnny Depp in the death scene of Public Enemies.
