Chanced across this recently. It appears to be a Rose Anvil exclusive, and alas they don't do much more with it than various boot accessories, wallets, and fancy (expensive) leather sneakers. Seems to be exactly what it sounds like: a leather that is black on the surface, and wears to blood-red underneath.

Puts me in mind of the blue-black goatskin of the original version of the Speedster that Aero designed and made for Levis back in the 90s. A jacket made of this stuff would be very cool indeed if the black didn't wear off too quickly. Ideal if it wore over time at points of stress and wear only, rather than like some of the teacores which seem designed to make a black jacket turn mostly beige within a month.

Could see this looking great in workboots or engineers too.

The name repels me, feels like it's trying too hard to be "edgy" and "xtreme", and it seems gimmicky to me.

I'd take another look at it with some natural age and wear to be sure, I suppose, but it's not for me.

It is pretty deep the red color, so the exteenal black layer is very tough from what I’ve seen in the video.

I think it would be more adeguate on the boots, but certainly interesting on a jacket

Eh, a little gimmicky, yeah, though no less so than teacore. I know what you mean about the name... I did wonder if they were looking for the edge, or maybe just trying to avoid gonig for 'redcore' given that 'red' has had various political implications over time across the spectrum which might in some markets impact sales.

Seems like it's from Siedel tannery that produce some good leathers.
Could potentially be cool if it resembles the Cal below:

Though no denying the name is a turn-off. Like My Chemical Romance and Axe partnered up for an exclusive fragrance.

Yeah, naff name - though I could get past that very easily if it looked good on the jacket. I'd definitely want something much more subtle than most teacore stuff, which tends to age a lot faster than I'd want.

Mushmans and Rainbow Country sold an A2 and a fifties sports jacket made from what they called Mars Leather. This was a Shinki horsehide with a red base and a seal brown topcoat.

There's a blog post (in Japanese) that describes the leather and its backstory.

I'd love to have a jacket made from this, but Mushmans stopped a few sizes too small for me.

Cool, but you need to have the know-how and feel for wearing this kind of leather. Whether it's for shoes or other items, especially jackets.

I suspect I'd have the same issue with sizing. Those look great, though - I particularly like that longer style. My first Aero was an AN6552 that wore in a spot near the cuff to a bit of a reddish hue poking through. Not as dark as this (more a russet under seal, like a depot respray n' reissue) but of a similar nature.

Interesting.

I don´t know if the combo "black fades to very red" is for me, but these overdyes seem to be all the rage now.

RMC did it in a stylish way with their A2 2 "Red desert" (Seal, fading to a red-brown tone); Black Bear Brand has a very nice Bomber made by Y2 which is basically navy over bright blue and lately The Shop brought their Chore Jacket in two overdyed versions (red and blue; also made by Y2).

I agree with you, @Edward that much will depend on if the effect is a complete rubbing off of the overdye or just a gradual transformation in areas of high abrasion.
