Berets, Anyone?

The Le Laboureur burel fabric is amazingly rustic and gets more so over
time as the stray hairs work loose.

In keeping with the upcoming holiday season
I am pairing my Croix de Occitaine/Languedoc insignia
with a Goat in a Tree beret in pine.

So I jumped into the beret boat! This is a Laulhere Basque Authentique 10 purchased locally at Berkeley Hat Co, The picture is taken at the California coast near San Simeon, CA. Those giant worms on the sandy beach behind me are Elephant Seals.

This one is a Laulhere Heritage Arnaga 9 in a cool dark brown. I really like the small plate on this one.

Congrats on the recent additions. Akin to your stingy brims a beret works really well for you.

I especially like the pairing with the crosszip leather jacket. I have difficulty pairing my crosszip with a fedora and this was the main reason why I wanted to try a beret instead. Now I'm on the hunt for more.

I have been lurking for sometime now, and thought its time to sign up - mainly to thank everyone here for their ideas and pictures of their berets and how they style/wear them.

Last week I finally bought one after deciding exactly what look I was after. I bought a 10" Elosegui in black. I was looking for a beret with out any "overhang" (small disc) and this one worked out perfect. I bought it for those days when it is cool enough for a hat but warm enough I don't need my ears covered. But I found out it is so comfortable, I don't want to take it off!

So my question is: how many of you wear your beret most of the day (indoors too)?

Can your beret ever be too big or too bold? My wife and I might have to agree to disagree on that one...

You, Sir, take a fine picture! I noticed a black and white portrait in a more recent post. And the beret looks really sharp with the white sweater and black shirt. Very nice! I can imagine your wife walking with head held on your arm out and about.

The cards don't carry a date, but appear to be pre- or during WWI. Some postcards have information on the regiment on the back.

Some cards have a short text in both French and English on the front.

c'mon everyone-the coolest thing a cat could wear back in the day
was a black beret...and black turtleneck, shades were NOT optional, and
mumbling was the mode of communication; any hep-cat that didn't wear
a beret was wearing a stingy-brim; no base-a-ball caps; dig?

I just got some boinas Arandu crochet for the summer (it's -18 C and 50cm snow depth outside, but let's be optimistic!) -- holy cow, so much nicer than normal cotton boinas. A tad smaller than I'd like (I would like 1 or 2 extra cm of diametre for sun protection), but the weight and feel of the material is just really good.
