Beck 666r ? I have this old beck jacket in amongst my collection of schotts . All my schotts are 44" this is a jacket I bought years ago . I was told

It was a XL . It's a 38 so I've never worn it . Can anyone tell me anything about it ? Or beck history.

I don't know that much about the original Beck jackets. They seem to be pretty well regarded among vintage collectors. There are reproductions of the 666 made by Toys McCoy, which I really like the look of, especially the leather they are working with is just gorgeous. The shoulder gussets appear to be a very practical design.

I wouldn't say a 38 is an XL. That's more of a Small, or Medium, if anything. Or else I'm misunderstanding something.

I was told it was a XL . Obviously they were mistaken! But not one to complain I just kept it , I think it's horsehide , it smells gorgeously of leather and the lining .....

Beck 666 is AFAIK often undersized. I have a size 38 with a pit to pit of barely 38 inches measured outside flat.
Your 666 seems to be a late 50s or more likely a 60s production. Earlier 666s have the larger Beck labels. Later model I think 60s going into the 70s has the Beck Arnley label.
Schott claims that they made Beck's jacket at least the earliest 333 model.
IMO Beck is a well known brand. Many of its models look very cool and are quite popular but the 60s models are quite often not very well made. Many I have seen have cracks despite looking rarely worn. I think it is because of the increased demand in the 60s leading to an major increase production which caused problems in sourcing top materials and QC.

The leather on mine is in remarkable condition ! A few scuffs is all . I thought the quality was quite good . The room I've hung it in smells of leather! Lovely!

The zipper is from the 60s. The lining is amazing!
The Beck jackets were made by Schott as far as I know, and sold through motorcycle shops. I’m a 38 if you ever want to find it a welcoming home .

I do not think is 50s. The work looks late 60s to me. If you go by the slider and pull (if is original to the jacket), I would call it late 60. Check the back/front of the box. If you can, post them. I might be able to give you some insights. Finally, take some images of the leather around the inside of the zipper box, It will indicate if it has been replaced.

There is a tear in the lining , repairable I'd think . But yes the lining is one of the best I've seen ! Your thoughts?
