Beautiful made hat! The Italian makers made the last great hats!
Truly a beautiful soft felt dress hat from your neck of the woods. I'm impressed. It is very hard to find homburg branded Barbisio.
This is the second in perfect condition that I find on the Italian market
In sparse and unclear photographs of the seller it was not possible to understand the color and state of preservation.
So I looked for an agreement to buy some hats and I had found more in its selling list.
The origin of the fur indicating that composes it has been the main reason for my interest.
Hardly in Italian hats or Europeans are indications marked on the origin of the mixture of furs that makes them.
Borsalino is the company that gave greater importance to this aspect of production.
In this case the Barbisio is marked "rat-gondin" or Nutria from this side and the other side of the Atlantic and it is on the lining that stamped on sweatband
The color is gray with blue or purple hues. Felt is thin and medium soft.
The size, as mentioned, is 58 cm. or 7 1/4 US. Curled brim are 5 cm. and crown 12 cm. with a matching ribbon of 4 cm.
The hat is one of the best vintage Barbisio I've seen.
Supremely elegant hat
Daniele, Fantastic! The felt and color combo is beautiful! It is very hard to find homburg branded Barbisio.

A very nice looking hat. The finish makes me want to touch it.This type of hat in form, finishes and colors is typical of the seventies in Italy
It was one of the last attempts of hats industry of this country to intercept the taste of the male audience that was changing rapidly.
It is interesting to see how two of the major competitors interpreted the same hat pattern
This is the perfect brother in the shape and color of the G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro I showed you a few weeks ago
Here introduced is the twin with Barbisio brand
The differences are in their felt because the finishes are top notch
Barbisio use for the construction of a soft and very handy felt with a thicker consistency than that used in Borsalino
The Alessandria product is more stiffer and mantains better shape
See the felt on Barbisio, the finishes are both excellent
Super Barbisio Extra Lusso size is 58 cm. (7 1/4 US). Brim are 5 cm aand crown 11,5 cm. The ribbon is in the same fur felt as the hat
The Barbisio name was licenced to be made in the USA during the late 1980's by Bollman and also in Columbia SA by Puerto Fino Hats. You can easily tell the differences between the Italian version and the other two.
I may take you up on that if you have a medium gray homburg in 58! The one I am waiting to receive is a black homburg -- can't wait to have it in hand!Blue it is difficult to say without pictures
Barbisio in its own history and Barbnisio-Cervo in the last thirty years made astounding hats
I saw in photos two Barbisio made in USA, but I can't tell nothing serious about them
In these months I'm discovering the Barbisio made in Cervo factory because I came accross some NOS hats
The quality is really high and I wonder why they had not the success they deserves.
For sure Besdor know why
If you are always interesting in homburgs I have two Barbisio to sell
I'm waiting for the pictures
It would be great to see some photos of the outside form of the hat. I have one Barbisio Titan, similar to yours. I believe it is from the 1950s.

Truly a beautiful Homburg my freind! The finish of the felt does look really smooth and luxurious. Nice find! Here's the exterior. It had a really bad crease initially -- actually, there was hardly a discernible crease at all -- so I wanted to steam it up and set my bash in before photographing. Also, you may have noticed from my posts in the WHAYWT thread that I bash my homburgs in an oddball way -- diamond or teardrop. Means only an oddball would buy them off of me!
The felt is wonderful. This may be my favorite hat by touch.
Thanks so much for helping me date and place this hat, Daniele! I'm so happy this is from Italy. It shipped in a Brooks Brothers hat box, so I thought I might have gotten a Bollman edition.
Thanks again!
