Is it safe to wear a previously owned hat if, in it's former life, it covered the embarrassment of psoriasis?

Thanks. I should have searched.

I saw nothing there about why one would choose a dimensioned brim based on head shape. The three reasons I found for a dimensioned brim are
  1. Indiana Jones styling (has no impact on me since I have an aversion to basing purchases on emulating fictional character, e.g. I would by a Homburg but I would shy away from the variation marketed as "The Godfather".
  2. For a fedora it seems to accentuate the "swoopy" look from the side.
The effect is to accentuate the swoopy look from a side view. [huh]
  3. A western hat with no side curl, e.g. a "gun club"

it's just another look my man ... you are way over thinking it

why a wider brim or shorter brim ?
why a lower crown or higher crown?
why a tapered crown or straight sided crown?

all just options for different looks and functions

A different look in the same style, to me, doesn't have it's own purpose. The design of a hat, it seems, should compliment the person wearing it. Height, taper and width all should play into that.

Besides that, the different dimensions play together. I can easily see that he relationship of brim width to crown height play against each other. A shorter brimmed hat will appear even shorter if the crown is higher.
