The short answer is that cleaning success depends on the type of stain. Most common stains like sweat will come out.there is several places that do restorations to hats my question is during the cleaning process can all the stains be removed? like sweat stains
I have a thin ribbon Stetson with an identical sweat and liner. Mine is from the 1990's. The hat is a decent knockabout but nothing outstanding about it. I think it speaks to the era and the quality therein.Stetson "The Supreme"???
Just picked this up and looking for info since I can't seem to find anything about this Model for some reason. Charcoal gray with a 2-1/2" brim. Felt is decent. Stitched brim edge and black liner. Guessing '80s or '90s? Was this a short run or a predecessor to another model? Is pretty nice overall and will make a good beater. Thanks!

I fill my trunk with hats and drive 45 minutes south. On my last repair/replace/redo with Mike, I shipped 4 or 5 hats in one well organized box. Still only $20.00
View attachment 80686 View attachment 80685 I'm looking for some information on this beaver long hair. Absolutely pristine!
Must be 100 years old, last reference to the maker I saw was in 1915 American Hatter. It was a center dent its whole life, but I recently re shaped it.
Here it is opened up. There are no stamps on or under the sweatband, which is very thin leather with a silk backing. It also has a very thick raw edge on a 2 1/2" brim. Thank youAdditional photos would be nice... sweatband stamps, manufacturing labels behind the sweatband. Looks very interesting.

An interesting puzzler... The sweatband and ribbon do not express great age to me but they may not be original to the hat body.o Is the red liner sewn in?
I would guess it is not made from beaver fur.[/QUOTE

Thanks, it was given to me by an antiques dealer about 40 years ago. Finally it has shrunk to my size. Perfect for a costume party... pimp, Etc., a bit hairy for a regular wearThanks for the additional photos. My guess is the sweatband and ribbon have been replaced and the liner sewn in at that time. The liner and hat body might have started off in life together. The felt content might have been suggested on the original sweatband (I'm assuming there are no imprints on this sweatband). Again, just guessing, but hare or nutria are most likely. Beaver would have been uncommon and expensive (and probably not black).

You wear it well!I find a black longhair hat very easy to wear.
To me that would be tooo close and waaay too dangerous to the health of my savings account. I am 9 hours away so stay home and use the post office.I fill my trunk with hats and drive 45 minutes south.
