On second thought, it doesn't look like jerky. Perhaps it's the black soft steerhide (I think that's what it's called) I've seen used in some of their stock jackets.

What's the measurement from chest to hem? P2P 23" down to Hem 21" or 24" down to 22"?

Anyone know if this could be the Conolly hide? Is the Aero brand tag old enough for that to be true?

It looks like a fake Aero (replaced label) to me. No top stitch on the sleeve / body attachment. Aero label looks weird. The main zip is an Ailee, a zipper you'll find on French jackets from the 80s or 90s.

It could be. But it also looks like a big jacket that's been altered. The alteration is an ok job actually considering the scope of the surgery. That's why I asked the hem sizing. This is also something I wanted to do for a while. There are no Y shaped Highwayman, only \ / shaped ones, from Aero of course.

I think you're right. Can't tell with the rest of the body, but this sleeve has definitely been altered.

Its at the elbow and feels thinner.

Unless it is uncomfortable for you, I would keep it. It looks good to my taste.
