“New Year’s Eve in the Ozarks”, Thomas Hart Benton, 1945.
I toured his house in KC once years ago. Can’t remember much about what we saw but I remember we loved it.

I have several early Rangers among my ancestry. I have been to the Ranger Museum & research Center in Waco. @rclark Rick lives in Waco. This one is for a friend that is inspired by Texas Ranger hats.
It shows the progression of their headwear (and clothing) thru time - left to right.

The hat was copied from a photo of Wyatt Earp taken on June 10, 1883, less than 2 years after the shootout in Tombstone, AZ.Interesting. This angle makes me curious about the draw. It looks like a long-barreled revolver, so where's he drawing it from? Is that a holster on his right hip, or a fold in the coat? So is there a slit in the frock coat?
Or maybe it's a short-barreled rvolver drawn from a coat pocket?
Just random "gun guy" curiosities...

Wyatt didn’t want to brandish his revolver in public, so he had a waxed canvas pocket custom made to conceal his 7 ½” SAA in his frock coat.
Reminds me of Jasper from Lonesome Dove.
