Jim Peters Jr said in an interview that starting with Calvin Coolidge in 1923 Peters Bros gifted Shady Oak hats to 9 US Presidents. In another interview I found where one of the 3 (Jim Jr., Joe Jr. or Brad) said the tradition stopped with President Clinton. I take that to mean President Clinton was not gifted a hat. Sifting thru various articles & interviews I've come up with confirmation of 7 Presidents who were gifted
Shady Oak hats.

Calvin Coolidge
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Dwight D. Eisenhower
John F. Kennedy
Lyndon B. Johnson
Gerald R. Ford
James R. Carter

President Coolidge returned his hat saying it was not his style.
Jim Peters Jr. said not only was President Johnson gifted a hat, he was a regular customer.
President Carter returned his hat saying he could not accept gifts.

Surely President Reagan was gifted one? And being from Texas it's a sure bet that President George H.W. Bush was gifted one also. Then it stops with President Clinton. Reagan & Bush would make up the list of 9.

Shady Pine 50 made from a 6X Swiss made hood. 2 1/2 x 5 1/2. Bound brim. Straight sided blocking. Sewn in liner. The felt is very thin and dense. Crown is easily moldable w/o steam or much effort. Brim is flexible. I’ve tried comparing the felt to some of my other hats and nothing quite matches up. The felt density is similar to a 7X CB but this is thinner and not as finely pounced but the finish is quite nice. Good sweat. Pretty light at 112 grams. The seller listed it as a 7 1/2. I thought the measurements were closer to 3/8. The last pic shows what was hidden behind the sweat. True to size, dammit.

That is a great looking hat BB, & a fine job you did on it. Glad to see another PBSP show up here. Any hidden date stamps?

Wow, really nice, Greg. May I request a couple of before shots, or did I miss them?
