Hello Everyone, I'm trying to get into wearing my Fed IV more often. I finally got a decent bash in it, but really need to start wearing it out in the elements so it can look a little worn in. It's a larger brim than I have been wearing usually, so trying to get more comfortable with it again. What do you all think? Any suggestions? I've steamed it a few times with a pot on the stove, but really need to just wear it out in the PNW rain more often.

Cheers!

Looking good. Just remember to make sure it’s in the shape you want and place it down on its crown to let it dry after getting wet in the rain.

Looks good to me. I think that brim width and crown height suit you quite well.

I know you have at least one other Akubra, so you already know that looking "worn in" is going to take quite a while:

I should have brushed it before taking the 2018 photos, but otherwise even today it doesn't look like I've been wearing it for 13 years. It's been rained on hard enough to penetrate the felt completely, profusely sweated in a few times, creased and re-creased, and Akubra's felt just takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I bought it thinking it would look like a "beater" hat after a few years of use; obviously, I'm still waiting. :(

Yours looks fantastic! And so true about taking a while! My StyleMaster is coming up on probably fifteen years old and still hardly looks much different than when I bought it. You just can't beat the quality and mileage you get from them.
