But on the topic at hand here is my Carbon Gray FED IV

You can't see it here, but there's actually a tilt to the brim.

The closest I've come to getting an "Indy" comment was from a good friend who, upon seeing my Tawny Fawn Fed IV for the first time, asked, "Isn't that kind of like the hat in the Indiana Jones movies?"

The simple fact is that you're going to draw attention to yourself if you wear something that's different from what the sheeple around you are wearing. If other people like whichever hat I'm wearing, great. If not, that's fine with me. I wear them because I like them, and "negative" reactions from anyone who isn't a respected family member or friend won't dissuade me.

Im starting to look into another hat. While I like my current fedora, it will be nice to go to town without the "hey Indy" comments!

I have a custom made outback/fedora. It looks nothing like the "Indy" or Raylan Givens hat, but I have gotten "Indy" and "Raylan" responses to it. I've even gotten them with a cheap Stetson Cromwell wool hat that is black.

I've had a couple "gangster" or "Al Capone" remarks wearing my Stylemaster with a wool topcoat... no biggie.

I just wanted to mention about the great experiences I had with both everythingaustralian.com and hats direct.com I have been waiting for a while for my hats to arrive and I must say I am very pleased with all of them.

Akubra has a slight tendency to vary in size and has minor quality control issues at times. Nothing to big too worry about though and nothing you can't fix with some window seal tape to adjust size.

I now have from Akubra :

2 Campdrafts
1 Rink
3 Hamptons
1 Bogart
4 Fed iv's

I like them all and find them to be a great value for the money.

I agree. At their prices I can live with Akubra's inconsistencies and "not quite top shelf" quality.

Just got my Akubra Leisure Time in the mail today. Very happy with this hat, and it's an absolutely beautiful hat too. I swapped out the Akubra band for a woven leather one, and added a chinstrap since it's so light. I can't believe I never bought an Akubra before this!

Whenever I get to thinking the Fed IV is "too much hat" for me with its wider brim, I put it on and like it all over again. Especially if it's raining!
