Akubra break-in method?

I usually just wear them and keep messing with the bash. Depending on the stiffness of the hat, sometimes I crush the crown like it's dough to soften it up. I also wear my hats in heavy, heavy rain.

I don't have any suggestions but an observation: in the Great Films of the 30s and 40s, often the actors seem to unconsciously play with their hats, almost crushing them, and then they do a quick center bash and once on the head, a "wrap around brim adjustments". It's very col to see.

That's not breaking in and setting up of course, but it is a little peek at everyday use.
