Aero to make jackets for new Hollywood WW2 Film, "The Monuments Men"

It was a serious discussion on Aero's current military jackets catalogue and its poor fit to a Hollywood production.
I have not run away but just pointed out facts that Aero military jackets are poor in relations to their competitors in the market place today.
I know many Fedora outsiders chunkle when they see this Aero religion on this forum as a sort of brainwashed cult. They can do no wrong etc.

I meant that positive that with Ken returning he can and I think will make a difference to the current military inventory.
Unfortunately with the filming schedules they probably have already committed/bought the stock so it is old non great (pre the return of Ken ) stock they will have for the filming

Yes indeed except it seems if a member critizes Aero !!

Anyone want to get back to the points I was making that why Aero would be selected for a studio production with their current military jackets output instead of other better quality manufacturers at the moment.
Is it just a budgetary thing and I still feel its a shame that some more accuracy and better quality jackets could not be shown on air.
No one needs to see stitch by stitch perfection but surely its good to make it the best possible especially when other options are available now ?

It just seems a few members want to go back to their school days and name calling.

Budgets aren't the only factor, I expect the delivery times may be in question as well. I'm in the production queue for a Goodwear, and it will be 12-15 months. I don't mind waiting for a quality garment, but Hollywood operates on a last-minute schedule in many instances it seems.

I do believe we need to also recognize that quality changes over time - ideally it improves though this is not always the case. With regard to A2 jackets, the last one I ordered was 5 years ago and there seem to have been considerable improvements across the spectrum since then. I would rather rate individual garments instead of beating the 'brand name' drum (and I recognize I can certainly improve in that regard).

I'm sure that these jacket makers would produce the jackets straight away (no prolonged 6-12 month wait time) if a Hollywood studio called.

Sadly, you're right. No matter what maker jacket we wear, nor how much we paid for it, we would be made to wait.

Well, at VLJ people tend to vituperate... They really are opinionated, and not too shy to voice the opinions. I read the posts every now and then, but as they are repetitive (same goes here for FQHH), mostly I cannot be bothered. But they know their zippers and stitches, quality, well, that I am not so sure of always.

Good for Aero if they got the movie gig, I'd judge the end result a bit later, as for example when it is available to be judged...

I think a heavily altered jacket from the 'Will period' of Aero was used in Catch Me if You Can and possibly in Saving Private Ryan (I'm probably going to get torn a new one for daring to suggest this, but I'm going on the interview I did with Ken and Will, and the former's list doesn't quite tally up the latter's. As I mentioned earlier, Aero jackets were made for Bladerunner, but I'm not sure if they'll appear. *sigh* This has turned into quite a stromash for what was a feel-good, Scottish success story, but it's also the reason I didn't start a thread on it myself, as I had a feeling it would get leapt upon by people with a point to make.

It's a sequel rather than remake, and it's Ridley Scott at the helm, so hopefully it'll be something different rather than trying to do the same thing again. And just to keep it on an Aero film track: Ken and Ridley were mates during the 1960s, and played on the same football team together!

Really. I didn't know it was going to be remade. Seems like a bad idea, but most remakes are.

Wow, that is cool. So is the idea of Aeros in Bladerunner. It couldn't be remade; that would be sacrilege. I'm prepared to give a sequel a chance.
