I just bought this for 380$ all in and i cant for the life of me find any info on it. Obviously its an aero marine style, but when were they produced with a wool body? Did it have a seperate style title?

Or was this just someones one off custom...

Around 15 or so years ago Aero Leather was offering a ‘baseball’ style jacket.
As this was a combination of horsehide and melton wool presumably the capability to produce similar jackets in other styles was there but whether these were regular stock lines or just one off custom orders I don’t know.
I’ve never seen any such other Aero wool/leather jackets so perhaps it was the latter, or maybe they just didn’t sell. Either way, it would seem there are now very few around, or at least used examples being offered for sale.

They did about four styles with wool/leather I guess from memory about ten years ago. I ordered one but unfortunately it arrived a bit bigger sized and never really fitted right so I ended up selling it on a year or so later, was a great jacket, wish it had fitted. I don't remember this style but maybe it was a custom based on those, mine was similar to this one.

Wow, that one is lovely. A deep black shifted purple or burgundy wool in that model would have been pure art.

There are a couple of threads featuring them. I didn't realise they'd dropped them from the website tbh. There were priced quite a bit less than the leathers I seem to recall so maybe the profit wasn't in them for the sales and the time involved.

It has the same cut and side belts as the aero marine.... so either a small run of slash pocket welton wool bodied aeromarines or a custom....

Honestly a bit nicer than i expected. Ive eyed the aero marine for a while, and now wearing the style id probably custom order a two tone version with slash pockets like this, but in all cxl hh.

Comfortable, great fit, slightly tight on the forearm taper if im reaching for something (which i assume of all jackets that arent overcoat styles at this point). The brown stitching on the navy wool is subtle but stands out, and the horsehide is really richly textured. The pocket felt material is ultra soft. I will say that replacing a button on this will be difficult.

The campfire label is my favorite of aeros.

So yeah.... pretty sweet seemingly rare collab out of left feild for me.

This was one of a handful of Wool bodied Aeromarines made for US stockist Epaulet a few years back , they turned out really nice. These could be replicated on request.

What is the purpose of a front drop? I am ordering a custom original hercules from aero and trying to decide whether to have the standard front drop from that model which is 2 inches or have it reduced to 1 inch.
