Good day all,

I have decided to engage Aero to craft a new cafe racer for myself. I think I have all the measurements like chest, waist and stomach sizes well documented. I am looking at a size 36.

The main question I have is how short should I alter the back length of the jacket. I am quite short, at 1.71 metres but I have a very slim frame. Based on previous experiences, my jacket back length (from the bottom of the collar) is about 21.5 inches. I was thinking of having it slightly longer at 22.5 inches. Would this be okay? I usually wear normal rise pant/jeans. Nothing too low or high.

Also, I note that for some leather jackets, the front length seems to be longer than the back length when hung on a hanger. Was wondering whether this was the case for Aero's cafe racer.

To the esteemed members of this lounge, your input would be greatly appreciated. :)

Have you asked Aero?

My own experience, I'm 5'11 and on the Cafe Racer a 24inch back is great for me.

This is an impossible question to answer. One inch is unlikely to be very noticeable. Jacket length is about personal taste as much as anything and it also involves torso length. I am six two (188 cm), I prefer a 27 inch back in a cafe racer. Others my height prefer 25 inches. You need to decide if you prefer a longer leaner look or a shorter look. I like a longer jacket, many here like a shorter jacket. What works for your build? A shorter jacket may make you look shorter, length adds length. :D

Are you by any chance in Hong Kong? I have a cafe racer by Aero here with me. You're welcome to have a look at it.

Agreed with Seb Lucas, that's like asking "i like blue, is that ok?"
Like him i am 6'2" but my prefered length is 25.5" to 26.5" IMO 27 becomes too long as it interferes with back pocket access.

Regarding front drop, i think the Cafe racer is pretty even front to back. Jackets with big front drops are designs like the Dustbowl and the Original Hercules.

Agreed with SL and Carlos; the Cafe Racer is cut pretty even at the front and at the back without a front drop. It's weird, but while I don't have any trouble with wearing jackets from other makers that 24" or 25" long in the back, with Aero it doesn't work because, somehow, it looks a lot shorter. Like, a CR with a 25" back will barely even reach my belt. And that's not terribly good. So I would suggest that you order a jacket that's a bit longer than what you think is the magic number. That's just my observation tho but I got burned one too many times...

As for what's best for you... Yeah, smartest thing to do is to work that out with Aero. However, I don't think that a standard 24" - 25" back would be too long for you. The back length seems to be very forgiving with the height variance. I'm 6'1 and my CR looks about the same on me and my friend who's 5'15. The jacket looks okay on my gf and she's like 5 feet tall.

if the jacket's shoulder has a big slope from your neck toward your shoulders, then you need a longer back length compared to a measurement you do on let's say a shirt or other jacket with a flat shoulder.

I'm only about 4/5 cm taller than you an 24.5/25 inches has been good enough for me.
Like monitor said the back length tend to be kind of forgiving.
