Aero Café Racer Fit

Hey everyone, I just wanted to get your thoughts on the fit for my Aero Café Racer in Cordovan FQHH with antique brass hardware. I have a few reservations, but I wanted to get the collective’s opinion before I sent it back and so I can have the appropriate adjustments made.

Looks great everywhere but the sleeve length needs another 1.5"-2" imho. Body length, shoulders etc all look good. I couldn't be happy with that sleeve length tho.

I'd go 2 more inches on the sleeves, but I think the rest looks great.

You need to shorten your arms a couple inches and then that good-looking jacket will fit just fine.

Maybe even 3" more on the sleeves, especially if it will be your motorcycle jacket.

The only adjustment I would make would be to add 2 1/2 inches to the sleeves, maybe 3" if used for riding.

I'm not a rider, so think +2" is probably be about right. Does anyone know if Aero carries zippers that are beefier than the standard talon, kind of like the ones one the Thedi Phoenix?

Rather than FQHH, another option too would be seal or black Vicenza, especially if the CR is not used for riding.

FQHH is going to be a beast to break in, but I am used to the to some degree with raw denim. Additionally, I really like the smooth grain and the way the leather almost glows.

Sleeves are too short. Rest is excellent but the sleeves won't do.

1" to 1.5" on the sleeves, difficult to tell about length with your shirt untucked, but I'd be tempted to add an inch for good measure. Heavy duty zips only appeared in the late-60s/early-70s, and Aero ouvre stops pretty much at the end of the 50s. I wouldn't worry about it, their Talons are plenty tough enough and imho look much cooler and elegant than a chunky zipper.

I think the sleeves could use a couple inches, as well as the waist length. The front looks short, the back sits ok. Great looking jacket with the style that everyone is looking for.

I would lengthen both the sleeves and the body (the sleeves more so, but a tad more length in the body would also be desirable). The ripple across the back is a bit odd.

My 2 cents: Add 1' to the body length, 1-1,5' to the sleeves and order a jacket without the shoulder gussets or with an action back to get rid of the "ripple across the back".

I can't argue with the advice here. Consensus seems to be 1.5-2" on the sleeves. I think 3" would be a bit much.

Hmmm it looks too big to me across the back.
I have a sheene (cafe racer with collar) without the gussets. Design wise It works very well & may suit you.

The length from the front is hard to tell because your shirt is out but from the back the length seems OK. Although if you ride I would add 1" to the length. The upper and mid back is too baggy. And as the others have said...the sleeves need 2 inches....if you ride 3 inches.

I really appreciate everyones input. Based on everyone's feedback I think I request the following modifications:
-2" added to the sleeves.
-Gusset delete (they look like they cause a bit of a flare out in the photos).
-request a larger front zipper if possible.

I think I will leave the length alone, as the jacket covers my belt line even with low rise jeans on.
I'm going to try it on one last time before I box it back up to confirm the Chest/Waist, but both of them felt pretty good, albeit the jacket was a little difficult to put on, but that is likely due to a combination of a trim fit and the FQHH.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the back of the jacket and I would leave the gussets as they can only be useful. Without 'em, the jacket might feel a bit constrictive and besides, Aero CR has a somewhat roomier back, it's just the way this jacket is made so removing the shoulder gussets shouldn't considerably affect the way it looks on you.

Here's a photo of a gusset-less CR and you can see there's still some bunching going on.
