The thread was immediately hijacked by posters grousing about the past. Their comments have since been deleted and my post was in response to those deleted comments.
In that case, I apologize for the tone of my comment. As one who has worked with victims in the past, I am not very tolerant of people who take advantage of others. Hopefully, SD will make good on his promise and all will be well.

Another small update. I got word again that Steve had responded to a message elsewhere, which means he is ignoring me. I have therefore filed a complaint through Paypal since I was still in the window to do so. He now has until the 26th to either respond, deliver my hat or provide a refund. I told him that I was sorry for having to file the complaint and that I DO still want the hat as ordered, but we'll see how it plays out.

More information as and when I get it.

Another update. Steve just messaged me that my hat is done and will be shipping tomorrow via 3-5 day priority. (I've asked him to get back to me with tracking.) So this might be settled as early as next week. Excited, hopeful and a tad nervous would just about explain my state right now. Looks like Johnny might've been right. I know we have whiskey around here somewhere...

I had my beaver raiders AB made for me in August of 2014. I feel for everyone still waiting.
It isn't right and despite sickness, if people like me got hats then those ordering long before me should have as well.
We can all play nice but at the end of the day if money was paid, the product is owed or a refund is in order.

Agreed. Obviously, one can't always be 100% prepared when life-threatening illness arises and desperate measures are needed to survive. When businesses actually go bankrupt, customers usually lose everything with nothing to show. But in this case there just seems to be lack of structure in communicating. A long-term plan (even if that necessitates taking new orders to fund the completion of old ones) with continuous updates is what is needed. Folks will cut cherished vendors a LOT of slack as long as the lines of communication are not closed, even if the updates are "no news" updates.

NEWS!:
I just got word that my hat has shipped with a 3-5 day service, including a tracking number that I just verified. Steve has asked me to cancel the Paypal dispute, which I'm more than happy to do, but I'm honestly leaning towards waiting until the hat gets here before I do so. I don't want to be unfair or unreasonable, or seem distrusting, but you can't re-open a dispute once canceled and frankly, the whole thing would have been avoided if my messages didn't get ignored for two weeks. What do you all reckon- am I being unfair?

I would wait till you have it in hand, then cancel it.
Then give us a review. I would like to know what his newer work is like.
I would also like to point out, if the hat comes thru all right, that Steve has kept to his word and delivered the product on time. He did say you would get it before christmas. ;) From what I have read Steve is getting his orders out in a timely fashion nowadays. I have also read if you are still waiting for an older order you can shell out the difference in price and get it as quick as a new order. He is still working thru his back log but very slowly so it will still be some time before he completes the old work. But the one thing that people have to remember is he has always been spotty with communication. Read the old stuff over on COW and you will know if you ordered from him you had better sit back and wait and not expect to hear from him again until he was working on your hat or about to ship it. May not be the best business practice but that's the price you paid for (at the time) the best Indiana Jones hat on the market. That was also before Indy 4 and Steve's health issues, so nothing new.
My (long winded) two cents worth.

So? Did you get it yet? Can't wait to see the pictures.
