I'm not a reenactor or a historian. I like heydays, golden eras, the good old days. As for mileage, I've been into vintage styles since I was 13, now at 39 I know what's available and I'm at the point of making it work for me, trying hard to look smart and authentic.

Yes- collect stuff you like- then try and find some sense in it all-
some thread that makes it work. Backwards perhaps but fun.

I reckon the obsession that some of us have with apparel and it's details borders on Fetishism. Mine does, sometimes. My fascination for details on bicycles borders on the autistic. I do enjoy my pastimes.
I suppose elegance is considered to be a femine trait. I disagree but I'm cool with that, too. Let's get back to the workboots, men.

Wow, me too but mine border on dyslexic- I enjoy my Pasties too.
But then I do have Cornish incestry and enjoy eating lard ;)

Feminine/Elegance:
I don't think that elegance is necessarily a feminine TRAIT at all-
(elegance can quite rightly be defined as a beautiful way of describing function, or a nifty and clever way of going about it, or enhancing it,
or a sophisticated, or simply achieved yet agreeable styling )but comparing my(maybe others too) predisposed position on what makes a work boot, there is a certain "feminine elegance"(beyond function)in boots such as the semi-dress, when comparing with my straight-heeled, roomy, clodhoppers.
But I see that this heel thing is an accepted American styling.

I don't think we disagree, more like we mutually understand.
Maybe we disagree...

That's what I call Boots Porn!!

Mysterious Mose,

Very nice collection indeed!! I like the White's semi-dress, in particular :eusa_clap

I don't think the "cuban" heels on the White's semi-dress appear feminine, unlike those they have on the RM Williams...

Did you buy the White's boots directly from America?

I'll post my boots collection when I find spare batteries for my camera

Got the White's via www.Bakershoe.com, they were cheaper than White's own page, but they don't offer the M.T.M option.

B.T., I think we have an understanding . I mainly disagreed with the opinion vs. mileage remark, and I meant to say I enjoy seeing others point of view, even tho' I think my White's ain't girlie, at all.:)

My R.M. Williams have the flat heels, don't like their cuban heels either.

I think, with boots, as far as soles and heels(and even fit) are concerned and where knees/hips/backs matter, such as in hiking/hillwalking, there is always room for a bit of customisation and tweaking.
And it depends what you're walking on, of course.

On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
Wow...!

Just when you think you've explored ever nook-and-cranny of this place you come across a thread like this. Now that I have a 1920s newsboy and two vintage denim jackets, I'm in the market both for a pair of work boots and a pair of cowboy boots. Since I will probably only EVER buy one pair of each, I'm thinking about going with this:

White Custom Semi-dress

Have only read six pages into this thread, so I'll keep slogging to see what others think of White. (Only problem is the ENORMOUS range of choices!)

Do also like these RW Featherstones, but I'm a 13D and they top out at 12.
