There's a Japanese hatter on instagram that apparently uses a butane torch, or the like, to burn his felt and Panama hats. No kidding, burnt hats. No kidding. No thanks.

Ahahaha! True there! When up and coming new hat makers come into play? They will and they have, will do just about anything to get your attention, not my cup of tea per say!

That’s when you know that they have ran out of ideas the real hat makers will have covered it most and only to cater and try to run with the small boys. Come on Stetson now! We can do that ourselves w/o buying into this so called distressed/antique takes on hats just like Gibson/Fender/Martin guitars weve seen and played for some two decades now.
Cool take but I’d rather distressed mine naturally real! Just me fellas!

So both he and Nick Fouquet like playing with matches around hats, eh? :D
There are a few more in the making that comes to mind hat makers amongst the others that are already out there (Carlos Costa, Hornskov København) besides using matches, I've seen torches and alike being used. It ain't easy as it looks making them. It's what you do to make it yours.
I guess there are folks that like burnt to crisp hats, heck I'll do that for a fee as well using my 50 year old Zippo:D
To them it's taking it to the next level it seems. o_O
Will them be able to replicated the sweat wear and nip and nibbles from a moth let alone the powdery smell of aged that remained in the closet and or treasure chest nobody knew and had forgotten for so many years?

There are folks who can't wait to age their Tele's and Les Paul's alike and it gone down to the hats now.

Ok gent's I digress here, I can't say but I could grow into this rave/fad if it's an OPEN ROAD:D (unless there is one already made or in the making) Stetson reading this?

But then again I'd rather age it and wear the $&!* of it myself really. Or it would have to be a beater hat period.

There would be a new thread unless there is one already of this stature called :
Wear & Tear or Stetson's Re-Imagined?

Cheers!
