Hi everyone, as the interest in closing the thread has been made very clear let me just make one last comment and that is to thank everyone who responded, I appreciate everyone's time.
What started as a genuine lack of knowledge on how tariffs would impact what amounts to really a non-essential purchase - I have two jackets that I really enjoy, and don't necessarily need another - has taken a tangent and expanded into a larger conversation.
I'm glad to know that in the short term items under $800 USD won't be subject to the 15% tariff until 2027 - at that point it'll be interesting to see what happens to our ability to, and our interest in, shopping the Japanese auction sites, or purchasing from one another across the ocean(s).
I'm personally feeling like things are demonstrably more difficult post-Covid in North America in terms of pricing - the real estate market where I live is out of control - due in large part to folks rushing to buy houses in 2020-21, which inflated already high prices - and the price of fruit, vegetables, milk, etc has gone up, and up, and up with no signs of retreat.
Taking a walk in the woods, or just around the block sounds pretty nice - I hope everyone can get out and enjoy some sunshine this weekend. Thank you all again very much.
Chris
