Not really new but been away for tooooo loong it seems. Need to read in to see what I missed and what changed.
Currently I still live in Germany, still like the Golden Age more than ever and am looking still for inspiration and funny and interesting things, discussions of our favorite era with...
From one of our fellow members in the Lounge, thank you Purplesage for this gorgeous and terrific hat.
Its as much as amazing as the Stetson I got from Purplesage before.
The oldest objects I own are coins like those I used as background with this (also old) watch. The two from the right side are ancient greek coins from south italian colonies. The upper right is a bronze Litra from Syracus and ca. 400 BC, the one below it is a silver Triobol from Thurioi and ca...
I couldn't resist this vintage Stetson. Guess its from the late 50's or early 60's? The felt is soo soft and its nearly mint, no dirt inside, the leather sweatband fresh and also soft. Just wow, I love it:
Mostly my wristwatches and pens. But I also have a razor of the 1950s and a clock that are still in use. Then, well guess what, a Fedora from 1957 and one from the 60s, cufflinks.
I would want more things for the daily use from that era. I kind of like using things that are already there and can...
Thats an amazing and very interesting find. Thank you very much for sharing it. If you need more help with some other letters, let us know, PM or post them here. I am also glad if I can help you a little bit. It seems you have a lots of them and, frankly those little stories of the history are...
Also I geuss that's what the freemason lodges and similar brotherhoods and communities were for. In kind of way they were more connected with people outside the usual club, barbershop or pub, since these circles are connected and even in a kind of way a network of lots of people with similar...
Regarding classic tank watches, over the christmas holidays I use this little fellow, a Hamilton Turner from the mid 1930s:
A not very common style nowadays and while it is small, it still looks prominent on the wrist and looks definetaly more masculin with this cornered case and the art...
Got myself a replica Yankee's cap. Looks very nice and not so shiny like the modern ones. It's a Cooperstown Collection cap in 7 1/8 size, just perfekt:
Hey thanks for the infos. Lizzie, it's interesting and new to me that it became this popular for women. Something different than I would have thought, cause in the movies you always see the daddy playing with the son. Also sports is in Europe more the thing for men, especially soccer which is...
I saw "the Pride of the Yankees" last night and it wasn't the first time that I thought baseball seems an interesting sport and I really would like to see and hear more of it. But since I live in Europe there isn't much about it known and also hard to find other enthusiastics or fans of the...
Regarding windmills, this one is only 4 km away from my hometown and also one of my favorite spots. Not only an interesting and still working piece but also the area around it with small rural villages, fields and forests. A very nice place for cycling and hiking.
:eusa_clap Impressive! Would really like to see this in reality. The dome is goergious!
Besides, @HepKitty.
I am glad that you like Germany and have been here. I must confess that I never was in the USA but the time will come, promised.
If you make it back to Schwerin someday, I...
I was there years ago. As a child I thought it amazing but even then I personally found the older castle right next to it better, more realistic. This one is sometimes too modern, strange and well crazy like the king who build it. But nonetheless a must see if one is in the area and besides...
It can also be said about the earlier Sheaffers from the 1930s/40s. I own several nice Sheaffer Balance models and they are great at writing (really good balanced in the hand) and eyecatchers with their streamlined designs and fancy colors. Especially carmine red looks very swish. The same goes...
Napier, didn't know that he had its own city :D
But New Zealand is one of the countries I'd like to visit someday, so nice to know which city will be one part of my must see-list there.
Does a whole country with its society counts? The GDR, the country I was born in disapeared completely with most of their own industrial products. E.g. there are no longer cars like Wartburg, Trabant or the (at least in the GDR) famous Schwalbe, Star and all the other motorcycles. Also many...
