It was my christmas gift this year and the second vintage pen I have. I believe its a Sheaffer model of the Balance line and may be from 1935/36. Does someone maybe know more or affirm this assumption? Is 875 the number of this model?

    Cufflinks and Shirt Studs.

Thanks again. Yours are very nice too. I especially like the ones on the right. They are real eyecatchers. :eusa_clap

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

Hamilton Carson, c. 1935/36 so I have now both versions of this model (this one and the one with black enemal numerals).

    Cufflinks and Shirt Studs.

Thank you Danny. I like those old cufflinks. Since most modern ones just try to imitate the style of long gone days, why should one buy the modern things? Besides the vintage ones are much cheaper today. Like e.g. this two pairs: These I got some time ago and they are one of my favorites...

    Cufflinks and Shirt Studs.

As one interested in the history of ancient Mexico and Southern America I just could not resist these beauties: Besides they are my first silver cufflinks. Don't know how old they are.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

You are not the only one. I had to watch it some years ago and could not laugh once the whole time. The last one I watched was A River Runs Through It. Saw it years ago and still it is a nice movie for the long cold winter nights. Very nice shoots of the environment (esp. if you...

As promised some pics of the pen I got today. A Parker Parkette and I believe it is a Parkette Jr. from 1934: Next on the hunting list is a nice Sheaffer. I like those striped streamlined pieces from the 30s. Would make one for the bureau and one for writings at home.

BOARDWALK EMPIRE (HBO) - Everything you wanted to bootleg about the Show!

I've started to watch it and well, it's interesting. I even can learn how to swear better. Does the series have a higher age rating? A lot more swearing and cursing there than we normally see here from american tv shows. The costumes and setting is overall a good thing, even while some seem not...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Night of the Hunter, that's one of my favs too. I saw it the first time as a child and got a pretty bad dream from it. But still, I have fond memories of my, uhm, secret sneakings into the TV room to watch some of the thrillers late in the night when my parents were asleep. :whistling

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

I have it since some weeks, but thought it's too beauty not to be shown. A Raleigh Plain with the somewhat rare etched numeral dial, made c. 1930/31. Etched means, they are not, well applied, but made out of the silver dial itself and colored with gold. The hands are also the original one for...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

The Public Eye (1992). A crime story about a top photographer with good connections but the attitude not to get deeply involved in the scenes he is shooting. While falling in love with the club owner and glamorous lady Kay Lewitz, he decides to break with this and soon he finds himself in the...

    Unpopular movie opinions...

Bogey is just cool and Bacall is the eyecatcher :o It's like Rita Hayworth in Gilda or The Lady from Shanghai. After all the audience needs in such a dark movie and place an eye candy to enlighten it a bit.

    Vintage Fonts

Thank you for this thread and the links. Now I just need some ideas where to use them. It's a pitty that it is not usual to use some more interesting fonts for the daily business. Arial and Times NR are really boring.

    fountain pens

Thanks Neecerie, that will take some time to see through all of this, but it'll be a pleasure. But I already have another little question. I have seen several interesting pens where I just could not really decide. One of them is a Parker Parkette but seeing on this interesting page...

    The DINER.

Very interesting thread and thanks for sharing all these nice pics with us in the world outside of the "Diner-country". :eusa_clap It's that what I envy you in the USA for. Why did the US export this boring McD and WürgerKing to the rest of world and not the nice diner culture with such a broad...

    fountain pens

Thank you Shangas, they are amazing and exactly what I am looking for. Nice old art deco style pens. I will make some pics of the one I hope to find and get soon. I think it'll be a Parker or Sheaffer, that are the both companies I already read something about. Do you maybe know some other...

Vintage Pens of the Golden Era I'm thinking about getting a nice vintage pen, like a Parker of the 1930s. Besides having a real vintage item on my desk I want to use it for minor handwriting (signing and so on). Do the experts here know some things one should have in mind as a newbie to the...

    What Are You Reading

While looking for a mug, I found this little "swell" place of amusing retro-futuristic stories and ideas: Trapped in the Tower of the Brain Thieves It's a kind of an interactive adventure story set in a future which is inspired by the dreams of the people of the Golden Era and what they may have...

    Diner mugs

Yeah but they want more than $40 for shipping just one of them to Europe, so that's a bit high for something that costs only $5. ;) But the white diner mug from the amazon-link of dherman looks interesting. Just have to find some printing shop here at home who maybe can get me a good logo or...

If you had a chance to travel through a TIME MACHINE for a WEEK? where would you go?

And now someone should say the universe (or god if you want) does not have a black humor with a strong tendency to irony ;) It's always like that with history. There happened a lot of bad things but then if they would not have been then many of us would not be here and most of what we know...
