Stetson Hatteras (made in Germany) 'TROPICAL WOOL' cap - 97% wool, 3% elastane. The fabric is so light that when you hold it up to the light, you can see through it. The sweat band is even made out of the same material and is totally prickle free. Not as durable, squashable or washable like my hat people caps though, and a little dearer, but not having a lining and the fabric sweatband (usually the hottest part of the hat) makes this a lovely breezy comfortable cap for summer, and it's wool. Being a wool grower, I may be prejudiced, but I think for caps wool is better than cotton, linen or synthetics. This tropical wool I believe is lighter weight than linen. I've ordered a linen hp cap as well, for summer, as a knock-about cap and will leave this cap for dressing up.

Stetsons can be pricey, though I'm very pleased with the only one I have, the pigskin Stetson Burney. Just wish they'd do it in a grey as well as the brown, as the brown one doesn't go with all my jackets. Great with earthtones, not with blacks and greys. The only black leather ones I can find are shiny and a bit 'fetish' looking for my tastes. I like leather as it's great in the rain.

I bought mine though Delmonicco Hatters - nearly $100 but that includes $20 shipping to Aus. I notice there is a seller on ebay (all in German though) that has some up for auction. Might be lucky.

A vintage 1920s or '30s newsboy cap. I concur with Dinerman: at present, none of the new cap makers have nailed the look and feel of the old caps. Perhaps they're not trying to.

It's hard to tell if the photos accurately show the color. If it's tan or khaki, then it'll be pretty versatile. Olive, not so much.

I hope someone on the lounge picked it up so we can see better pictures and get an impression of how the cap fit's. Always watching for vintage caps to come up this was an interesting one for sure. The adjustable fit feature is one that current cap makers should copy for sure.

Really liking the cap in the music video, any suggestions as to who I should be turning my eyes towards and opening up my wallet for to have something similar made for me? It has a perfect silhouette in my eyes, can't help that I'm weak for suede either.

I'm starting to put together a vintage-inspired wardrobe and I'm looking for a newsboy cap to go with my leather jacket. As much as I would prefer a fedora I'm going the cap route to avoid the Indiana Jones imagery that a fedora/leather jacket ensemble would surely evoke. While searching eBay I came across this one:

Does anybody know anything about these caps? Is it something worth getting? One of the selling points for me is that the maker/seller is not too far from me in Santa Ana, CA. As for the look of modern flat caps, it seems as if people today are reluctant to stray too far from their ballcap comfort zone because many of the new ones look more like a baseball cap/flat cap hybrid.

I have not purchased a Zazu cap they look nice and since I don't own one it would be hard to tell. Good newboy caps can be hard to find Stetson in europe makes some nice ones. If I lived that close I would send off an email and see if I could stop by and try on a few cap's. Other good cap makers are the Hat People. Hatpeople I have a couple of their cap's and in this thread you will see many of their hats in this thread. Another cap people like are the LOFGREN cap's they are sold by Speedway of Japan Speedway Here is their japanesse site japan/speedway-

Those Zasu caps look poorly and carelessly made IMO.

I've seen 'em in person; they look better than the photos show. The caps are made by the grandson of film legend ZaSu Pitts, and brother of guitar legend (and Dean Mora alumnus) John Reynolds.

I think I have 8 of these caps and they are definitely my favorites. I like them so much that I'm selling off my other caps. To me, they have a very vintage look to them. He's also a great guy to do business with.
