I have to say that I really miss having red hair. I dyed mine black and cut it off a while ago and instantly regretted. I am now going through the process of growing it out so I can go back to red.

I was at the theater a few days ago and noticed four different elderly couples where the husband was carrying the wife's purse and I couldn't seem to figure out why. I didn't realize it was considered polite to do.

On the extra frizzy days you could wear your hair in a snood. That's what I do when it's beyond the point of taming.
You could also try using anti-frizz serums, for me it acts as a weak mousse and is pretty helpful. There's also a lot of helpful tips in the Curly Haired Catastrophes forum...
I had that book when I was younger and hated the images, they used to give me nightmares. Actually just seeing the ones you posted brings back bad memories, hahaha.
