I see these fedoras made by a Polish company on Amazon for less than $100. The claim is: They are made of rabbit fur.
Any Lounger know about these hats?
Own one?
Two inquiries re fedora brim widths:
-What was the width of the fedoras Bogey wore? 2 1/2? or less?
-Is the new version of the Stetson Whippet considered a hipster/stingy brim fedora because the brim width is 2 3/8"? Or. was 2 /38" perhaps the Bogart brim width?
Thanks!
I checked the David Morgan site from time to
time.
It appears that all of his felt hats are Akubra.
I don't recall any styles from Nate.
Could be wrong.
The reason I asked in the first place is because I have
to cowboy-worn Open Roads from New Mexico, each I
would say from at least the 60's, and each has a 2.5"
brim and a 5" open crown.
Then I picked up a dead ringer for an Open Road
recently up in Ventura for 60-bucks. It is in
beautiful shape...
Try shuffling through Hats Plus stingy brim assortment.

You may not find an exact match. But there may be something close
enough.
I just bought and received an Ideal Cap Co., solid color,
blue, 1940's style.
It is classic. Real wool, real leather sweat band, perfect
fit. The crown is lower than current New Era hats,
and I prefer that.
Apparently, the dark blue I got was pretty much
the cap worn by navy fliers in WWII.
Since I am originally from Philadelphia, I had to
add the pretzel man and his cap.
Even back in the sixties, pretzel vendors
wore these caps we called Jeffs. They
would wheel their carts up to the school
yard fence, take orders and pass pretzels
with mustard through the hurricane fence...
To Hatophile...
Years back a local radio show threw open
the mic to women and where they hide
newly purchased shoes so their husband
would be sure not to find them. And in
a week or two they could start wearing
such shoes saying, "These? Oh,
they're not new. You must not remember
them."
Caches...
The question "how many hats is too
many?" has been a topic discussed before.
However, to that topic, should there
be a Lounge Sponsor, sort of like AA,
the guy to call when you want to buy
a hat and there's hardly room in the closet
for the ones you already have. (Most of which
we don't...
The gist then is the hat's of practical, perhaps historical
interest, but not generally to be worn unless turned
to the side like Venus on WKRP. (That pic is a great
find!)
