Eastman's largest size for their B-2 cap reproduction is just slightly too small for me, and they don't do custom work. Has anyone had any experience with the other two makers of B-2s, flightjacket.com and Real McCoys? Your past experiences with how accurate they are and how well they're made...
My guess would be 1950s. The vertical-zipper upper pockets and dual-pocket system on each side make this a dead ringer for a late 1950s Sears Fieldmaster I have and an early 1960s Sears Oakbrook (essentially identical to the Fieldmaster) and I wouldn't be surprised if successful designs were...
The Lost Worlds guy also spouts that drivel about what "real men" do. To which I reply using Emerson's words-- who would be a man, must be a nonconformist. And if you're a nonconformist, you don't concern yourself with fear-based conformity to what "real men" do.
That's quite right; I have the documentary on DVD. They dug down to "Dick" which was filled in for storage space and materials when they were running low on shoring materials and needed to take the heat off the sand-dispersers; the Germans were watching very closely. That was the tunnel whose...
I second the salute to Amanda; she's most helpful & professional. What did the Admiral Byrd jacket set you back? It's a great-looking jacket that they ought to add to their line. And is there a photo online of the man himself wearing the original?
get an original
If I were you, I wouldn't bother getting a repro, given the large number of original G1s on eBay, of all decades, conditions, and prices. Remember, they issued them right from WWII through 1978, and then began again in 1982.
Goatskin is quite tough, so I wouldn't be too...
Eastman email?
Does anyone have any other email addresses for him? I tried the enquiries@eastmanleather.com address twice from different email accounts (a Verizon and a Yahoo) and both times got error messages saying the email was undeliverable.
Thanks. I've considered them, and I know they have repro labels, though it occurs to me that they might only do replacements of these things, not repairs. I'll ask. I am, as I say, hoping to keep the lining. But in case finances prevent my sending it to the U.K. for treatment, does anyone...
Just picked up an M422a in need of help. Champagne tastes, beer pocketbook. The mouton is stable, soft and decent looking except for the usual bald spot or two at the usual locations. The wine-colored lining is torn a good bit, but seems generally strong (i.e. not rotten or fragile)...
ANJ3a on ebay?
Hey all,
Very new here, but I've been impressed as a lurker with the general level of knowledge and friendliness.
This early AN-J-3a jacket is on eBay now:

It ends this Friday, March 14, and you'd...
