I saw them last night!
Woo hoo! What a great show. :eusa_clap I saw them in Boston at the Opera House. My husband and I had seen them last year, too, and we just love them. Such a great, elegant-yet-playful vibe! I love that they sing in everything from French and Italian to Turkish, Arabic...
Great thread!
Applause all around, ladies! These are all good thoughts...
I think if something suits you, rock it. As long as you're wearing the look and not the other way around, that's all that matters. I'm 47, and got back into vintage because I was boredboredbored with my clothes, my...
Can't figure out how to do the quote box thingie...
...but I would have put Kamikat's Luckyscent post in it. Eh, I'm such a noob! :eusa_doh:
Yes, Luckyscent is terrific. Some other fun places with samples/decants are:

...if that's the case, then you will LOVE it! Comme des Garcons has a whole series of incense-based perfumes, and while I've sampled some of the others (Quarzazate is very nice, as is Zagorsk), but I like Avignon best because it really is an amazing reproduction of what I remember...
I've been on a real perfume binge lately, since discovering the decants at The Perfumed Court. Recent obsessions include L'Instant de Guerlin, which smells like honeyed citrus, magnolia and a smidge of musk; Delices de Cartier (it's tough to do cherry scents that don't smell like cough syrup -...

...I do the same thing with a recently-ressurected old favorite of mine, Youth Dew. I used to wear it in college, got bored with it eventually and just recently rediscovered it after many years. It's intense, though, so I just use the scented powder. Juuuuust enough to smell pretty...

Thanks for posting those great pics! I'll give the wrapping-around thing a try. Right now, I'm just using the curling iron and curling it in towards my face, taking it out carefully, holding the top bit in place and spraying the ever-livin' heck out of it. It kinda works, but I'm...
Thanks!
Thanks to both of you for the welcome! :)
Imoldfashioned - looks like we're both from the same neck of the woods.
Retromom - those Gene Tierney pics are just ridiculously beautiful. Actually the plan is to watch my new copy of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" with the fella and a nice...
This is kind of a cool fragrance site
http://theperfumedcourt.com
They have a wide selection of vintage and niche perfumes, and the neat thing is that they do decants in various sizes, so you can try just a vial's worth to start. I've made one order - the samples are coming in singly instead...
Hi there!
After a few months of avid reading on these boards I figured I should just sign up already. I'm in my forties, recently married and I live in eastern Mass. While I've always had a peripheral sort of interest in vintage, lately I've really been enjoying it more (and I've got the PayPal...
Lauren Bacall hair?
Hi, all...this topic is what finally made me de-lurk and sign up...
I was wondering if there was a way to "cheat" the Lauren wave with a curling iron? I am hopeless fumble-y with curlers. (And the less said about my pincurl talents, the better, really.)
Thanks.
