To the touch there is little or no difference as best I can tell. All I can say for certain is that one is pure beaver and the other; whatever it is they put in the 20X.- Monavillecowboy

I don't know what the deal is with the Stetson website but I can tell you the dealer cost for the Royal is 12% higher than that of the 6X.
