Anyone have a Whiskey felt with a copper/bronze or dark purple or deep burgundy ribbon who might share a few pictures? I love the Whiskey brown and I'm looking for a ribbon color that will complement the hat in more of a subtle way. Thank you.
Take a look at the "MC Gannon Hat Company" thread here in the Hats section; it is probably a page or so back on the menu. I just recently posted a set of pictures of a new whiskey felt hat with copper ribbon, in varying lighting so you can see the color shifts.
Ribbon colors in order of appearance; metal, burgundy, and dark burgundy against a pure beaver whiskey felt.Anyone have a Whiskey felt with a copper/bronze or dark purple or deep burgundy ribbon who might share a few pictures? Yeah, he kinda hinted at it. He needs more assertiveness.I’m not sure, but I think Bowen likes The Vita-Felt.

Darn, Bill! That's a beautiful hat.
Here's my Cane's Creations Whiskey fedora with a faux (Photoshopped) burgundy colored ribbon:Anyone have a Whiskey felt with a copper/bronze or dark purple or deep burgundy ribbon who might share a few pictures? So this is my dilemma. Over the last few weeks I’ve acquired these three hats. You are looking at a 40/50s Stetson Whippet in the back, a 40s Stetson Vita-Felt front left, and a 40s/50s Canadian Stetson front right. If I only keep one - which do I keep? BTW the Whippet needs to be cleaned. It’s a bit dingy.

Here ya' go Bill http://www.hat-co.com/perch//resources/f18-dobbs-1.pdfLooking at the 2017 catalogs for both Stetson and Dobbs I don't think Dobbs has a Stratoliner look alike. Which doesn't surprise me since they are both made in the same factory by HatCo. But I don't have the 2018 catalogs so someone else may have different information.

Glad to see you active again Scuttle. Always enjoy your input.
It's a Western Derby, probably made by Buckaroo Hatters.I believe Mr. Crowell calls this a Buckaroo...?
I believe Mr. Crowell calls this a Buckaroo..
I cannot speak to the quality of each hat, but for me the proof's always in thepuddingwearing.
My quick first impression is that, of these three, the cant of the crown and overall proportions of the hat at the front left -- the 40s/50s Canadian Stetson-- would likely suit you best. But, this is based on an a single image of these hats in one possibly parallaxed picture (by which dimension and relative size can be misconstrued), imaginatively superimposed over your other images of yourself in fine, fine hats.
Good luck, whatever you choose!
Why, thank so much! I appreciate your kind words.
In keeping with this thread, I shall ask my primary question of the past few months:
HOW DO I GET A HAT LIKE THIS?*
*Yes, I know I'm shouting, but it's a fair representation of how loudly the Want has been reverberating in my brain.
I believe Mr. Crowell calls this a Buckaroo...? What might anyone else (who might be able to make one!) call it? Is this just an open-crown hat on a smaller/shorter block, with a lightly curled brim... ? Ixnay on the leather hatband and feather; it's the shape I'm after.
(Most open-crown hats look like stovepipes on me before creasing....)
I have a couple makers in mind, Gannon in particular (I love me my Gannons, and would love to complete my steel ribbon Trifecta), but am also wondering in whose particular wheelhouse this hat might fall.
I'm not sure even what to ask for.
Thanks for any help!
~ S.
