I had a repair done a couple of years ago at JJ. Wonderful job, very carding Milner helped find all the right parts (I had an oil stain on a 50 year old Borsalino). The girl who did the work is not there any more, but I don't think that changes the attitude of the shop. Eli -

I agree and have both. The taller model is best for taller hats (I have an old beaver Top Hat that's shrunk, was able to stretch it just enough to fit again). The shorter ones are easier and should be fine with most hats. BUT be very careful not to overstretch, or you'll end up with a nice bump... -

What do you mean about "resemble the curve"? I have a Hat Jack I can use to stretch it out, but I don't have a mold of any sort to shape the brim. I'd have to get something like PVC or flat wood maybe to hold it up and down in the right places. No? -

Right... I figured I could stretch with steam... but any ideas to get the shape of the brim to hold? It wants to go back to a downturn all around, when I want to have the back up and front down (and then there's a small crease in the brim as well). Good thing is was only $30. -

May I ask what size it started at? I have a couple of older Borsalinos that don't want to stretch for me, hat jack and steam just isn't doing it, they always bounce back. Would love to know if there is a real solution that will stay and how far it can legitimately go. - eli104 -

So to be clear, all those size 6 hats I'm seeing on eBay that are marked "Vintage" and show "Antqua Casa" (meaning made for the European market) are most likely 7-3/8 in US sizing? Interesting. I have a 7 ½ from the 60's (was my fathers) that fits perfectly. But a 6 from the 50's (from my wife's grandfather) that is only a tiny bit small. Maybe we should have changed to the metric system in the 70's after all. - eli104 -

Waititng for a response from Black Sheep (sent email and voice mail yesterday). Carouselvic does not have the color/width I need (my ribbon is only 1.5" wide, he has 2" or wider). Meanwhile, the ribbon came back from the dry cleaners and though they were able to get MOST of the oil stains out... -
