Thanks jacketjunkie.
Any other alternatives worth looking at? I don't think Schott or Golden Bear do a serviceable (read Made in USA) version any more.
Has anyone got any pictures of the Aero College suede being worn other than these:

They don't do refunds so it's a big risk and I think it's going to be too bulky (despite the Paul Newman version it's inspired by not being bulky).
Some great contributions, thanks everyone. Not my style but A2's with lined vests over the top, like the C-3 Vest, are awesome.
I was thinking more about where you cant layer up underneath any more (eg you have a Tee or Shirt/thermal or whatever) but want something to help with lower temps -...
I have noticed a few Threads about wearing a leather in winter or colder temperatures. We don't want to forgo wearing our favourite jacket because it gets a little frosty! The obvious answer is to wear more baselayers, but with Cafe Racer or Rider type slim fit jackets this might not be...
I ordered a Roadster in a standard size 40, took pics wearing that jacket (as seen in this thread, see page 1) and used those along with stock pics of people wearing jackets with the kind of fit I wanted to more accurately explain the size / fit I wanted to them.
I understand they had to make...
Thought I would update this thread with a pic of the final jacket. I'm very pleased with the results - but I have to be careful not to gain too much weight now, haha. I know AL have had some bad coverage on here but I have to say I found them great, only issue is the collar/neck feels a bit...
The jacket is already returned, it was a stock size 40 - I am getting a custom made assuming I can work out the cut/sizing with AL.
I wanted to get as much info as possible from people on here to help decide with measurements!
Thanks, yeah that photo shows the shoulders are too wide, when the jacket breaks it will sit past the shoulder which I think everyone can agree isn't ideal, but it would be better than current.
The way I see it, for £300 it isnt right, so an extra £200 going custom (considering the fantastic...
Good point - though they haven't suggested this. I'm not wedded to the idea of messing and fiddling with roadster cut to get a slim cut. It's the collar / pockets / plain back and low adjuster of the roadster I like.
Experts should have been in inverted commas ;)
I don't think I am seeking anything outlandish here, just seems AL are very hesitant to advise me on how it should be achieved.
Hello and thanks for the further comments, in particular those offering an opinion on exactly how the measurements need to be changed. Very helpful!
Taking general comments on board - yes, I suppose I am trying to redesign a 'boxy' fit to a slim fit. But AL are well aware of this and as I...
I agree with your comments about the side view nick123, I thought making it longer would combat that effect?
Again the problem I am having is as a 'lay' person not knowing what to ask the manufacturer to change...
Hi Fanch
The Aero premier is £200 more so not an option for me unfortunately. Fantastic jacket though.
I don't think sizing down (to a 38, this is a 40) will help. As people note in the thread you linked to, this makes it smaller but the same 'boxy' postwar cut. In my pics the waist is fine...
Hello
Cross posted from another forum - can I please get opinions on what I need to get altered on this jacket for a tighter more modern (or 30s) fit?
I realise most on here may well think this is 'just right' but for me it's too loose. I have to say the quality and the bruiser steerhide...
Vanson and Schott are readily available yes, but I would rather go with a slimmer cut from a JP brand.
I could probably get an Aero from eBay UK for similar money which would be better quality than Schott if I wanted a classic fit. For those in the US you seem spoilt with custom leather makers!
Thanks for these, Tenjin and Toys McCoys Iron Anvil are new to me.
The search goes on! Any others anyone else can recommend please let me know.
I saw an OK looking jacket by 'Ben Davis' but the quality looks less than the above, but this is reflected in the price.
This Sugar Cane can also be...
