I have the same chest and waist as you. I found the G-1 from G&B too roomy in the body. The Mil-spec Cockpit G-1 fit better but I'm going to have to go custom. You are taller than I am so I think a 44R from The Cockpit will fit you well.
Very nice! I think I'm going to have to get myself a custom G-1 from there. It sounds as if Alan is very flexible with regard to leather, knits, lining, etc. Will he alter the fit of his flight jackets to suit one's desires?
If you're willing to consider G-1's I'd check out Lost Worlds near you in NYC. It's the best I've worn, but I've never seen Good Wear, Kelso, or Aero to compare.
The G-1 I was issued in 1999 was made by Schott. When looking to purchase a new one I was surprised that I was unable to find a milspec jacket on their website.
I'll call them with my measurements and go with their recommendation. I'll let you know how things turn out. G&B should at least take care of the length issue since I can order a short if I have to go 44 or 46. Thanks again.
Thank you. I was issued a 46R G-1 while in the Marines. It fits in the chest but is too long everywhere and loose in the waist. I'll contact G&B and post what I find out. Thanks again.
