What is it with you blokes.
Seems to me you only wear hats to take a picture and look pretty, like you were back in the 40's or something.
These are Australian Akubra hats, not fancy yanky doodle dandy hats.
They were born to be worn
Hey Rogera ....You can see I was agreeing with another member and quoted his post.
And hey Jackie Matra... What's up your bum, apart from my boot soon.
My apologies...
I never meant to be nasty at all. I typed far too quickly without thought of another's feelings.
Let's start from the left hand side ..
Back Row..
1. The creamy/tan with a Cattleman type hat band that looks like it's had an outer brim-trim. It looks like someone has put a bash in...
Agreed 100%
As a daily wearer of hats for work and play, I feel a man has to have firstly a work hat that sees all weather/sweat and any other oils and grease you come into contact with.
Plus a unblemished daily wearer dress hat so you can look respectable with a fresh shirt and pants on.
Then...
You've got to learn to put a nice bash on an Akubra Mn25.
A good bash is everything. Both for the style of hat and to suit your face and body type.
If you were on my parade ground I'd have you marched off quick smart, back into the laundry room to re bash every akubra you have.
A wider brim would certainly be better for sun protection 'hatophile. Unfortunately they get in the way too much. I've pretty well given away the wider brim use, even in every day/night hats, and always cut the brim down to 55mm and 45mm now.
Here are a few pics with one of my work hats, Akubra Whippit. I always wear a hat when Shearing outdoors, a Whippit or Hampton, but never inside a shearing shed while shearing as the heat build-up is too much.

Thankyou Dean, Alan.
I was afraid of that. My future collection of vintage wearable fedora's is looking slimmer all the time due to small size proliferation of tiny hats. I still do not understand the reasoning of men's hats being made in small sizes. Who but a child wears a 56?
I are so against this so called etiquette of hat wearing, and when to remove your hat ect.
I never tell a lady to pop her boobs a back in a bit lower if they are bursting out of her blouse!
I never tell a man he looks like a dill in a tie!
So as far as etiquette goes ......anyone who...
Hi. I have a quick question to ask regarding the size of a Stetson I have a chance of buying.
It is a Stetson Sky Rider, made in Australia under liscence. Around the 60's - 70's I'm guessing.
It is marked 7/8. I've asked the seller for an inside measurement but that can take days sometimes...
I've always favoured the shorter brim hats as they are much easier to work with on, and still keep the rain out and sun off your head. One of favorites over the years, the Akubra Whippet.
