You ever seen Two Lane Blacktop? Seems like a movie you would dig too.
My mom grew up in the Modesto area in the late 50's/early 60's and said American Graffiti is spot on. My uncle was in a car club back then.
My classic.... 1952 Pontiac Chieftain "deluxe". I bought it because the hood ornament lights up. It's currently awaiting a head to toe fixing up. It was my daily driver for many years and loads of fun to park at the mall ;)
My mess around with car.... 1960 Ford Falcon Tudor. This is...
Horses and rabbits too!....... and dairy goats... and sheep... and swine.... and beef.... and *ducks under chair* veal. I think if it had four legs and fur I raised it at one point or another, LOL.
I made a pretty decent "living" as a teenager breeding sheep. I was even a California State...
I had my son naturally and he was 9 pounds and it hurt like heck. I had my surrogate twins last November, one was 7 pounds and one was 6 pounds..... for a grand total of 13 pounds of baby alone!!
This was at 30 weeks.... I got a whole lot bigger until I sneezed and my water broke a few weeks...
Here are my two. This first was just some fabric I found at Wally World for a buck a yard to make up to check fit, ect......
And then I made this one, which is so much more "me", but not really vintage.....
I found this Día de los Muertos fabric I loved and wanted to make something out of, so I decided to make another "Walk Away" dress out of it and some plain black cotton. I thought that a whole dress out of it would have maybe been too much?
I picked up a couple other Butterick...
I found the Payless saddle shoes in the store, but I think it was a fluke. Or maybe somebody ordered them online and returned them to the store? I don't go to Payless often though.......
It's finished and I have learned a lot. I need to slow down, I got too impatient and rushed through and made a few mistakes. I also noticed I was pulling/pushing the fabric instead of letting it feed on it's own. My stitches would probably be straighter if I slowed down as well. But I was in...
I'm about half done with my "Walk Away" dress/Butterick 4790
This is my first pattern and attempt at making a garment. I will post finished pictures tomorrow evening when I am done. :)
I am letting it hang like suggested before hemming and finishing.
Hello ladies :) , often lurker, seldom poster, (I'm shy).
I want to pick up sewing again, (from my previous start of making curtains.... and that's about it), I really like the infamous Butterick 4790 and plan on trying my hand at that. Are there any other currently produced "vintage" or...
I haven't posted on here in ages, but I do still lurk.
I just got this yesterday, so nothing is on it yet... just thought I'd share. Not sure what year it is from??
I am 6'1", 99.9% of the time the tallest lady in any given place.
I worked at the San Diego Wild Animal Park when I was a teenager and there was a "tall people dating club" there one night and it tripped me out to see all the women that were as tall, or taller, then me.
Thanks for the replies.
I try to by the gloss enhancing products, but most days I just wear my hair natural, (it's stick straight), and don't put anything other then a shine spray on it.
My hair is a reddish brown, so I'm not sure what color gloss I should put on it, I think I'll do...
